  1. Australia have dropped off big time in the last 15-20 years. Compare this with their 2006 squad and it's night and day in terms of quality.
  2. He's not a very good historian in general. Two thirds of the season remaining is just over half the season! Walter lost the league in 2008 after going 7 points ahead at the start of April with a game in hand. We won the league the year after going into January 7 points behind celtic. Obviously the best of them all was winning the league from 5 points behind with 4 games left in 2005. Will defend Gerrard to the death but ignores how we ended up 9 points behind celtic in 2019 despite being level with them going into the winter break. The year after ignores being 2 points behind them going into the winter break and 10 games later being 13 points behind them. 4 points is fuck all in November.
  3. Serhiy Rebrov or Pedro Martins. However the latter moved to a Qatari team yesterday (so a good manager missed out on). Maybe by the time we actually decide we want a new manager he will be more available as he is only there for 18 months.
  4. Aberdeen last week Just being a cunt here obviously!
  5. Another fucking disaster. Love the man to death but how the fuck Gio can let him crawl about the floor while trying to save a shot is fucking brutal. Mclaughlin had one bad game and was never seen again!
  6. This is bigger than Gio. Two years ago everything was set up to make this club a proper modern club that everyone had wished for. Gio will stop the treble just because his cup record here and at Feyenoord as great. Overall though we are in deep shit. They will, if not next year, the year after, will overtake our claim as the most successful club. Something all of us subscribe to and something we take pride in. All of it has happened once we stepped back into the top league. Everything we pride ourselves on is about to walk out the door and we'll sleep walk in to it. The CL is the first step, the cups the second and then the league. Gone, all if it.
  7. Do you think we'll win the league? Genuinely? It's not forfeiting to say you dont think we will but it is a majority opinion held on the forum and within the fan base. They could could fall from grace like we did post Naismith 11/12 but its unlikely we'll pick up the spilt milk!
  8. It says it isnt too good. They have ability compared to the rest of the league but quite clearly they have an extra spirit we don't have.
  9. They might might not win games off pure footballing ability but they win them through spirit and personality, something we are totally lacking!
  10. His goals/assist per 90 is incredible. If he plays at the weekend he'll score or assist more than likely. How many of our wide players or midfielders can we say that about?
  11. I can't believe he celebrated that, fucking brass neck
  12. Part of it is hunger but the drop in fitness is evident to see. No doubt part of the reason why the majority of our squad keeps picking up wee injuries here and there too (not including the injury prone players)
  13. Probably because neither us or celtic have ever been that bad for it to ever be an issue. Despite the clear quality we were up against I don't think any fan or anyone in the media post a Europa League final and beating USG and PSV thought we'd get completely bodied like this. I didn't care when the draw was made, I sure as shit do now.
  14. We beat Braga and celtic in 4 days playing 120 minutes 6 months ago, but aye 6 days
  15. Thank fuck that's over. An embarressing chapter for the club.
  16. H&H did a pretty good summary of Advocaat's time in charge and is a pretty good listen. It really is such a mixed bag with Advocaat cause there were great players, some good football and some great results in big games. At the same time there was the huge bill which lead to much bigger problems, a complete collapse against the first consistent celtic team he had faced and a complete up and a down in terms of Euro results.
  17. Sakala does miss his fair share of chances and makes mistakes, like forgetting the ball at times. However there is no one in our team that makes the same runs as he does from wide to centre. The one on one he miss wouldn't have existed if Wright, Matondo or even Aribo were out there. For me you keep him in, give him a proper run in the side and the chances will keep coming and then the goals as well. Also the balance between him and Tav is pretty effective both are willing to come inside and outside which keeps teams on their toes.
  18. Easily our best performance of the season today. The difference pressing teams makes. I moaned about balance last week and Gio fixed it today. Sakala and Tav together just works. Both can come inside and both can come wide and interchange with each other. Finally got to see Sands play as a 6 for a bit and let Lundstram get further forward an influence the game further up the park with and without the ball. Colak was superb, he was everywhere today and gave Sakala, Tillman and Kent space to play in with his deep runs and was still there to put the ball in the back of the night.
  19. At the same time how many clubs like Burnley have you seen change from that rigid approach to something more open and go down within 2 years? The likes of Stoke, Blackburn, Bolton and even West Ham have all fallen for it. Teams like West Brom and Crystal Palace all saved themselves by going back to a more rigid approach.
  20. Yeah very true obviously Symon was a different breed and had the Rangers connection as well. I doubt we'll ever attract an FA cup finalist or winner these days but I cant imagine many people getting excited about Calum Davidson getting the job despite a cup double with St Johnstone. Another example Robbie Neilson who has had two full seasons in the PL with Hearts finishing third and when he left for MK Dons left them second in the league (MK Dons was a disaster though). I'm not suggesting either of them but the idea of either of them being considered would be pretty offensive to the fan base now when
  21. Bang on. Even though my first couple of choices would be guys who have won things abroad if you look at our most successful managers they are typically guys that have all stepped up apart from probably Advocaat. Struth was Wilton's assistant, Symon came from Preston and before that East Fife, Wallace was a coach under Waddell, Souness had zero experience and Walter was his assistant and McLeish was at Motherwell and Hibs. Out with Walter the second time (and this can probably be argued) and Advocaat are pretty much the only two successful managers we've headhunted. The others with decent european experience or success on the continent have been failures, or being considered one, with PLG and Gio
