Middlesbrough flop Kris Boyd set to be shown the door at the Riverside

Nov 22 2010 By Mark Guidi

KRIS BOYD is set to leave Middlesbrough in January - just seven months into his stay at the Riverside Stadium.

The former Rangers star has held talks with new boss Tony Mowbray about his future at the struggling Championship side.

And it's believed Boyd will be one of the players moved on as Mogga tries to cut his wage bill.

The 27-year-old turned down a number of clubs to pen a lucrative two-year deal with Boro in July. However, it was Gordon Strachan who signed him and the ex-Celtic boss quit last month after a poor run of results to be replaced by another ex-Hoops gaffer in Mowbray .

Boyd, midfielder Gary O'Neil and stopper David Wheater are three of the players Mogga thinks can be sold to free up some cash.

The Scot is believed to be comfortable with the thought of moving on. Boyd will have options in January with Blackburn and Turks Kayserispor, managed by ex-Ger Shota Arveladze, in the frame alongside German clubs who are said to favour a loan deal.

Boyd has netted just five times in the Championship and was subbed in the 1-0 weekend defeat by Millwall.

He was one of several SPL stars taken south by Strachan. Four of them - Scott McDonald, Barry Robson, Stephen McManus and Willo Flood - were offloaded by Mowbray while at Celtic .

Mowbray said: "Possibly the balance of the squad isn't right at the moment."

Boyd won't be going anywhere! Not unless they stump up the remainder of his contract first.

If he was willing to shite all over the club he 'loved', what makes the Record think he'll head out the door at Boro to save them struggling with his £40k(?) per week wages.

He made his mind up to leave Middlesbrough in July though Jim.

He's on 25k mate.

He scored over 160 goals for us and he did love us, people seem to forget that.

If he wanted a new challenge then it would have been good luck to him but its the fashion he left in that disgusted me.

If he does leave then im almost certain he will come back to us.

He undid a lot of good work with his deceit.

His career was over the day he refused to sign a new contract with us, thank fuck he didn't as well

Boyd stays = No Jelavic

I was scared no one would fill his shoes. Miller has exceeded him, and Jelavic was a massive bonus. Worked out greatly for us (tu)
