markybear 136
FORMER Rangers director Paul Murray expects to know whether his bid to oust AWOL chairman Craig Whyte is a goer by the end of the week. The chartered accountant is pulling together a group of potential investors – loosely labelled the Blue Knights – and plans to meet administrators Duff and Phelps and supporters’ groups in the coming days.Murray feels this is the week to make takeover moves, with players and staff braced for the axe and ongoing investigations into the cash crisis that has crippled Rangers.Edinburgh-based businessman Brian Kennedy has expressed an interest in the club with the mystery US multi-millionaire revealed by Express Sport, and a local consortium still on the scene.Whyte, now a hate figure for fans, bailed out last week and is unlikely to return to Ibrox after it was discovered he had used up to £9million of HMRC money and had £24m of season ticket cash paid into the account of a separate company.Murray said: “At the end of this week, I think we will have a clearer view of what the scale of the challenge is.“After that, we can formulate a plan to take things forward, hopefully.“I’m sure more information will be released in the next couple of days that will be useful to anyone who has thoughts about stepping forward.“A date for a meeting with the administrators has been provisionally arranged, but we haven’t quite got the location sorted. I also want to meet the representatives of key supporter groups.”Murray will have to come up with a plan to handle the potential £49m bill from the tax tribunal held last month. But he needs a full picture of the club’s current debts before he can work out what it will take to do a deal.Murray said: “We need to know the liabilities and who the money is owed to.“Until you know the scale of the problem, it is very hard to try to solve it.“The ‘big tax case’ is the elephant in the room, as former chairman Alastair Johnston said, and it is a very complex situation that pre-dates my involvement on the board. We’ll have to deal with it.”http://www.express.co.uk/posts/view/303435

gunslinger 270
GS, enlighten me: you seem incredibly keen to have Paul Murray taking control of Rangers; why?I'm not a fan of the present or previous owner. i'll listen to any prospective buyer if they are rangers men. I also favour a wider ownership base.

MrSifter 181
Paul Murray was on David Murray's board for four years I believe. When the club was available for £1, yes a mere 20 shillings, why didn't Paul Murray buy or put together a consortium then? He was in the box seat after all. Why is the Club such an attractive proposition to him now it is in administration?

kanjo 26,385
rant startOur previous board were shocking but, they didn't steal money to the extent where it had become Craig Whyte.Bain was a big problem, i had absolutley no issues with P.Murray, Dave King and John Greig. If Murray and/or any other investor can come in, prove his worth/value then great...but my preference will stay with a Rangers fan who is known to have money behind him...and/or fan ownership.49/51 on an investor and fan ownership is my preferred option above all though. Our club belongs to our fans, and we deserve the right to have a say. Wether anyone else agrees or not, we have the best fans in the country (and i don't mean just Scotland)Lets hope for an outcome sooner than later and prepare for an assault on the treble next season.rant over
Guardian 4,281
No going back. Murray's had his shot.Time we moved on with a new management team and start afresh.Paul Murray would never be accepted and is far too spineless to weather the onslaught as the tims put their spotlight on him. Guardian 4,281
Paul Murray is just throwing about talk of fan participation to get the fans behind him.Only way I'd do that was if the chunt was standing on a cliff edge.He was here before, told us feck all. After lamenting how skint Rangers were, he suddenly found £25m in his overalls and tried to buy Rangers. However to make sure he didn't get iut, he made the bid conditional on Minty picking up the tab for HMRC. Like that was ever going to happen. We don't need any more chalatans. No More Charlatans !!
