Charles Green in London, meeting with Mike Ashley

Recommended Posts

Just on SSN there, wonder what it could be, surely Green and Ashley wouldnt take charge of something as a simple merchandise idea etc, now that the deal is signed (it has been signed hasnt it) then surely marketing directors etc would deal with this

Could be something to do with the IPO? Rangers have got there merchandise deal sorted with Sports direct.

Rangers recently signed a retail agreement with Ashley's Sports Direct firm and the businessman has been looking to secure a separate deal giving him a shareholding in the Scottish Football League club.

Green last week launched a £20million share issue scheme for fans and is also looking to attract institutional investors.

Green, whose consortium bought the club's assets and business for £5.5million when it was consigned to liquidation, told Sky Sports News: "As you know we've been trying to get the position clear where Mike can buy shares in Rangers.

"We finally got clearance from the Football League after they had a board meeting recently and the meetings this afternoon were to make sure the path's clear for Mr Ashley to invest.

"He's obviously keen to do that and I'm sure that will get completed in the next few days.

"I think we've already stated previously that he's not allowed to take a material stake because of the dual ownership position.

"It was made clear to the football league that it would be single-digit percentages. So it's below what I said to the financial authorities that no-one would hold more than 10 per cent. Mike will be under the 10 per cent level.

"There's lots of things that we want to do with Sports Direct. Mike's very, very influential."

If this goes through, McLachlan won't have anything left to batter CG with.

Wait a minute, what am I saying? He'll always find something.

He will be sniffing about as if it's his sisters pussy as has been alleged by many people in the Shawlands area , if the allegations are to be believed.

Or perhaps it's that old Glasgow banter ...........could it be :7325:

charles green has made an outstanding start to his rangers stewardship, if he can get ashley on board as an investor, and then start picking ashleys brains as to how he turned newcastle around, we could be onto a long term winner

one thing ashley did though, and if green decides to use this the rangers fans will have to come to terms with, is that ashley tried the whole "side with newcastle fans" by hiring shearer, big money signings on big wages that were shite etc etc

When that didnt work he decided to potentially turn the fans against him by tearing the clubs insides apart, doing away with that whole "newcastle men" in charge system and put in a team that he could trust and who knew exactly what he wanted, when he wanted it and why

What do you think to having sports direct as the stadium sponsor?

What do you think to having sports direct as the stadium sponsor?

not a problem with that, unless it was for peanuts

I doubt Green would even consider that until he has delivered a good few years of success though, having the fans on his side right now is more important than anything else to him and his consortiums plans

CG on MA;

Not sure what to make of that statement?
