Given the injuries with forwards and the resolve of what must be the second ugliest team in the world would he not be better placed playing Temps where he did for this game given that he has scored from the same position before.

We all wanted him for his wing play but we never knew how good Barrie is

No, the lad had a stinker and looked completely lost. We also have kids bursting to step up and play in attack, Rangers should never ever lower themselves to play one striker against any domestic opposition never mind amateurs in the bottom tier.

Barrie is on one wing, Temps should be on the other. It isn't rocket science.

He didn't have an impact, thats different to a stinker, why 2 wingers without Kyle ?? The other boys prefer ball to feet.

Liverpool play with one striker, the game keeps changing, Rangers should never ever be in the lowest league but here we are

He had a stinker, it isn't a secret or anything to be ashamed of. He was rid-rotten.

Why 2 wingers? To balance the team, balance the midfield and feed our strikers. They He needs service, he isn't a striker who can come deep, pick the ball up, beat 4 men and score a goal, he needs service, he needs chances created for him. Hampden is a huge pitch, made for wingers, the pitch was there to stretch QP and destroy them, we played right into their hands through the middle and only one striker and one winger. RE Kyle, you don't need to have a motionless lump of wood up front to use 2 wingers.

Liverpool are Liverpool, with a different level of player, a different style of play, a different manager, different tactics, play in a different league, against completely different opposition and tactics. We are where we are, we are a 3rd division club in league name only, that doesn't mean we need to lower ourselves to negative, boring, clueless, shite and pointless tactics. We pay our staff and players enough money to expect and be better than that.

There is a bit of an attitude in Scotland that anything other than 4-4-2 is negative or rubbish. The answer to everything is 4-4-2 with 2 wingers and 2 strikers. Read it all the time on here with regards to both Rangers and the Scotland national team.

It is probably because our coaches and managers do not know how to use any other formation effectively, with the evidence being in the results of our clubs in Europe and the national team in every match. We, Rangers, are not playing at a level where our tactics need to be complicated. Why do we need to make it so hard for ourselves?

4-4-2 is simple, easy and effective when played properly. We played it recently on our winning run and then changed when Shiels got injured. Why not replace like for like? In the last 5 years, 4-4-2 has always been our best and most effective formation for the domestic level we play at. We have been to Parkhead and won several times with it, we have humped Celtic at home a few times playing it too, we destroyed teams at the tail end of the season to win the league a few years back and Ally had us on a winning run playing it. If it isn't broke, we shouldn't try and fix it.

At one point Barrie had 5 opposition on him, frees up space for the mid, for a ball to feet which if you watch Jig he prefers, he can't dance but he can turn.

Has Super done your wife at some point ??

We will have to agree to disagree. We seem to be going round in circles and have different outlooks on the game, which is fine. (tu)

No.

The ideas that Jig isn't a striker or scored most goals from midfield this season are fucking ludicrous.

Read the full thread I retracted my comment about jig scoring more goals from mid,

And playing striker for only the majority of half a season doesn't make you a striker

Is Hampden really a big park? Doesn't look especially big to me. Anyone know the dimentions compared to the Brox?

Ally commented on the size of the park the day before the game which is what left me baffled as to why never played temps on the wing

We'll just ignore his years as a youngster and then those at Motherwell and Wigan too, then.

I was aware of his past appearances as a striker but that was over a decade ago when he played for motherwell ffs

And for Wigan he played mainly in LM

He spent as much time up top for them as he did wide left, if not more, and that was from an article on Wigan's 50 greatest players.

"Forget Victor Moses, 'Super' Lee McCulloch was the original goalscoring Wigan winger. Signed as a 23-year-old striker for a club record £700,000 from Motherwell, he was soon converted into a left winger by manager Paul Jewell."
