Bothwellbear 1,392
Wallace: Time to crank up power in Rangers push for title LEE Wallace has vowed to redouble his efforts with Rangers when their SPFL Championship campaign gets under way again after the international break.Matthew Lindsay Sports JournalistSaturday 11/10/20140 CommentsSharePrintLee Wallace reckons that Rangers players have let themselves down at timesHearts could stretch their lead at the top of the second tier table to nine points with victory over Alloa away at the Indodrill Arena today. That would pile further pressure on their nearest rivals, who have a free weekend, in the battle to return to the top flight. But Wallace, who was overlooked for the Scotland squad for the Euro 2016 double- header against Georgia and Poland, is only concerned with the Gers team. The defender knows his side's league displays have often fallen short of the high standards demanded at Ibrox. He is determined for Ally McCoist's side to hit top form when they take on Raith Rovers at Ibrox a week today."At a club like Rangers nothing less than outright victory is expected in every game you play and we have not managed to do that this season," said Wallace. "We were obviously all disappointed with the performance and result against Hibs and are keen not to repeat that. We do know what went wrong."It wasn't acceptable. We gave away soft goals and didn't threaten them at the other end of the park. We let ourselves down in every area."We have played well at times this season. We did well in the games against Raith Rovers and against Inverness. But we know we have to play well every week without any exceptions."Wallace added: "This is a massive season for the club. We have the chance to get back into the top flight. But there is pressure on us every season here. This is nothing new."It is down to us as players to ensure that we perform to our best as individuals and as a team every time we take to the field."We didn't intend to be in the position that we are in at the moment when the season kicked off. But it is down to us to get ourselves up the league table."There is a long way to go in this league. There are a lot of games still to be played and we know we are capable of doing better."We got back to winning ways against Livingston and will be looking to extend our winning run when we get back playing again after the international break."Wallace has been unhappy that Rangers have lost two of the four SPFL Championship matches they have played at home this term. The League One champions crashed to a 2-1 defeat to Hearts in their first league game of the season and then lost 3-1 to Hibs at the end of last month. It is all a far cry from last season when the Light Blues dropped just two points in the league - they drew with Stranraer - at home. The vice-captain would like to make Rangers hard to beat at Ibrox and will be looking to pick up all three points when Raith Rovers visit. He said: "It is very disappointing that Hearts and Hibs, the clubs everybody thought would be our main rivals for the title this season, were able to beat us at home."I don't accept that we have struggled with the step up to the Championship, though. I just think we have to put together a winning run. Making Ibrox a difficult place to come is part of that."
STEPPS BOY 75,116
I'm one of the big mans biggest fans however he's been terrible this season, so far.Actually looks to have lost two yards of pace!!
simon 1,758
I'm one of the big mans biggest fans however he's been terrible this season, so far.Actually looks to have lost two yards of pace!!It's difficult when the midfield is more focused on defence than attack. He needs options. A lot of the time he will carry the ball to the half way line and everyone is hiding.

legalbeagle 3,734
Like his attitude, now can he tell the rest of the players? To be fair, he is about the only one who can get away with an interview without pages of abuse on here. Didn't Foster say something similar last week? NixonRFC 1,472
Wallace is one player who doesn't have to explain anything.Lee has been out of sorts all throughout 2014, playing at such a low standard for 18 months had clearly taken its toll on him and now he needs to push himself for better performances it so far hasn't been there

Smile 26,622
Our players should be embarrassed talking to the media rather than do their talking on the pitch.

Turnberry18 3,204
One of the top three managers the club has ever had. Very under-rated, and someone who didn't ever try and make a name for himself at the expense of Rangers.
