The FD and CEO are primarily responsible for the amount of money that's been spent. If you run a company that brings in £1m per year turnover you don't spend £2m per year in costs it's pretty basic stuff. Costs should have been cut in the summer with the lower than expected season ticket sales but were not for some crazy reason.

This is what happens when we are struggling financially. Full houses and full ST uptake might have seen a different result.

that being said, 1m quid for a kid who has only really played in the lower leagues in a footballing backwater isn't actually that bad a deal. He would be worth more if he had been playing top flight football but that isnt the case.

Hindsight is great though. The board couldn't predict ST sales being so poor and that the game-by-game promise from UoF etc would fail to materialise. Certainly cost-cutting should have happened but it won't be any where near enough unless we offload high earners such as players, coaches and the CEO (at that time). You can't just sack players to get them off the books

Hard for any club in Scotland to keep best players. Absolutely no surprise, nothing new and the money is welcome.

Can it fund a new manager? It is a fair swap really. No use moaning about it.

Player wants to go. This is football. Next game please and points on that board.......we aint done yet!

Agree with Gogzy.

No one who hasn't played in the top league in Scotland is going to go for more than £1 million.

Lewis is a talented player but he's been playing against piss poor teams every week and has a LONG way to go in the game. Folk touting him as someone who will play EPL football need to be realistic, he's not that good yet and would be lucky to get games in te Championship down south.

This club is going nowhere fast, we don't have a hope in hell winning the league now and even the playoffs look beyond us the way we are playing. Lewis won't want to waste another year in this circus so I don't blame him for moving on.

As far as the club are concerned they need the money and a bid if £1 million was always going to tempt them because like it or not we need that money to keep going, what else are they meant to do? Force the 20 odd thousand to go to the games despite a piss poor product on show!

It's frustrating to the fans because he was our best prospect and more consistent player but like GOAT pointed out we have lost far better and more important players than Lewis and we will get over it as always.

Scottish football is utter piss now mostly down to the filth at the SFA who only care about one team no wonder young players want away. Our situation at our club at the moment wont have helped either.

I don't blame lewis at all for this move, it's sad, but good luck to him.

Hopefully this is an opportunity to give another young midfielder a shot!

Let's face it....it won't hurt to try and it's no like Black and Law are lighting the place up.

What happened to us in 2012 made it possible to play guys like Lewis and McCabe when if in a normal situation these players most likely wouldn't have got a sniff. So on the more positive side mate just maybe there is another player here who will shine given the chance.
