Garner in A&E

My guess is that he or any other player attends that type of facility isn't out of the ordinary.  What probably is is that he is made to sit in what appears to be a public waiting room.  Wonder what type of person made the call to make him sit there, in Glasgow, with a full kit on, in the middle of a OF game, a Rangers player.

Yes. That's a thought I've had too. I remain a little suspicious over that aspect of his treatment there.

Who gives a fuck honestly?

Any sensible people got an update on the extent of the injury?.

Unlikely to know too much for a while unless its a straightforward broken collarbone or an easy dislocation. He'll probably need a proper scan once swelling subsides (after its been popped back in if needed). Just hope its not a Bryan Robson type shoulder injury that needed numerous surgeries.

Observations like that are going to get you into trouble. Although this situation is supposedly perfectly normal nobody has been able to cite even one other example of any other player at our level sitting in A&E waiting for treatment.

Most injuries can be dealt with by our in-house medical staff (Dr, physios etc) without the need for players to be transported to a&e. In the case where they get a severe injurie (torn cruciate for example) it wouldn't require a trip to a&e as the club doc can stabilise the injury before either sending the player home to await an appointment with the specialist or to a private hospital where they will imminently undergo surgery.

In Garner's case since it looks like a dislocated shoulder, it may require anaesthetic to re-set his shoulder socket and although he might need specialist care later depending on the extent of the damage done to the soft tissue surrounding it, the immediate concern was putting his shoulder back into place. A&E would almost certainly have been the closest (and probably only) place available on hogmanay with an anaesthetist.

Finally, since Garner's injury wasn't all that serious in terms of Triage he'd have had to sit and wait to be seen.

Marco Negri had his eye injury seen to at the Royal. When we had money and could clearly afford private treatment.

I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation to Garner being there.

There is. We don't employ an anaesthetist.

I work in A&E (not the QEUH) and can assure you this is a bit of a non story. Footballers are frequently treated in A&E with acute injuries- a private hospital has nothing to offer here. Joe will have been seen in a timely manner by the very professional staff who work at the QEUH. If he had to wait it was because they were dealing with more serious / life threatening cases. I'm equally sure that Joe and the Rangers staff wouldn't have made a scene or asked for VIP treatment.
