I'm not naive and I didn't suggest that anything would stop.   It would help the Rangers cause if we stopped it though.   We have fans who simply refuse to understand that whether we like it or not times have changed.

We give an inch they then want a mile. Time it stops and we start giving back.

It's time some of our support woke up to reality.    You can rant and rave and hammer the keyboard but it won't change the fact that some songs and chants are deemed offensive and or sectarian.   The Club knows that which is why they ask the support to change their ways.

How does it harm us?

Well for a start, we have humped two teams in a row and all the papers can talk about it the songs we are singing.  This wouldn't be the case if fans hadn't sang that song.  The paper have a legitimate piece of dirt to throw at us and they are going for it, instead of printing pish about sandcastles getting kicked over to sell papers.

It hurts our public perception in the short term, and in the long term ( if punishments and fines start getting handed out, or if strict liablity happens ) it could hurt us in more direct ways in terms of fines, sections being closed, points deductions.

There are more negatives than positives for us by continuing to play into the medias hands by singing songs with the phrase "fenian bastards" in it.

Now your turn, how does it help us by continuing to sing it?

It’s getting brought up because Clarke canny handle the fact we pumped his team.

Heard the songs that have been perceived as the worst this season from us, and one is week in week out

Completely agree although that doesn't negate any of the points I have made.

If we hadn't sung it, none of this would be happening.

Fans arguing with each other over song choice.   It feels like 2010 again.

Thing is in 2010 many of our fans believed this was actually about what we sing, obviously all bar a deluded handful now know it’s all about wanting us dead. Irrespective of what we sing or don’t sing their hatred will not be affected and they’ll still want us closed down, the sad Fenian Bastard chant is just the latest of our songs they want banned, previously they’ve complained about The Sash, Derry’s Walls, Follow Follow, Penny Arcade, The Bouncy and even the pre match megamix because the session musicians whistled on it and the Bheasts thought it sounded like a flute. So although it’s probably a good idea to give the SFB chant a miss for a while in the longer term it won’t change a thing.

They're deemed offensive by people who tell us what causes offence and what doesn't.

It's never really been about what we sing.   It's always been about perception.  We re made out to be the big bad bigots at every opportunity.   We have to box clever though if we don't give them the ammo then they will have to continue to print shite about us.  The shite is easier to see through from the outside.

Agreed, but the apparent "victim" always has the power these days.   We need to stop giving them shit to throw at us.

So we can play the victim and cry about being called H*** and orange bastards etc, then what happens?

It gets laughed away as banter or we love it.

Said it before that if people want to have a genuine discussion about sectarianism then that's fine, but myself and others won't take lessons on morality from those that have an obsession with seeing our club and community wiped from existence.

So people who will badmouth us no matter what are bad mouthing us?

That's not harming us as far as I'm concerned.

Yes they will, that's not going to change.  The only thing we can do is not give them actual ammo to use against us, which will result in puff pieces with no substance.

Its certainly not helping us, is it?

You are wasting your time trying to reason with some people Gogzy.  They refuse to accept that times have changed.

You didn't answer I see.

I've always thought that song was pretty awful but as the Club has asked us not to sing it then that should be good enough for our supporters.  I never mentioned any other songs whatsoever.

Answer what?

You mean you didn't answer both of my very direct questions, which says it all.

What ammo?

That we clean up the Tommy Burns tune and still get hammered, by even our very own snowflakes.

You want us to ditch our Orange song sheet, including cleaning up TBB?

WTF do you want us to sing?

The only people harming our club is our board in it's pathetic response and the appeasers of all things taig.

You don't give in to bullies, you take their fucking head off. Simples.
