Champs League Draw

With Seville's game being postponed because of the recent tragedy can the draw go ahead without knowing whether it's Seville or AEK, as both would be in different pots, and whoever qualifies will determine other teams pots and placings?

Would seem to make it unlikely that the draw could take place on Thursday.

absolutely no chance, our chums in the broadcast and print media won't let a thing like someone dying stop their carefully organised broadcasts/advertising fees/trips to the sun. they, like uefa, are amoral scum who think the world revolves around them.

in a perfect world/ no scratch that in a world with less crooked corrupt and bent officials we would wait until sevilla had recovered from losing one of their promising players and played their now seemingly unimportant game before doing the draw, reality is a bit different though.........

for anyone unable to compare, imagine hutton dying with a heart attack from game against killie (about same age, national and intl experience) and going out to play game tonight against red star, and how all of us under the glasgow rangers family would feel?

Sadly the draw would go ahead and we'd all immediately decide Uefa despise us, as usual.

Sickly funny :(

No chance will they postpone the draw.

The Champions League and Uefa cup draws have to be made on Thursday.

Teams need to know who they are going to be playing, Fans need to make arrangements, Clubs need to arrange Police, tickets etc, There is a reason why the draw has been scheduled for Thursday and it will take place.

Not to mention the transfer window, Teams wont know who is in their group as it could scupper deals between clubs.

Its a tragedy, But the show must go on. Sevilla have a 2-0 advantage and should kill off the tie in the 2nd leg. Id just have Sevilla/Aek in pot 2 and if it so happens that AEK win, Good luck to them.

To get back to the point - it's imposssible to determine the pots for the draw before this game has been played. The only option, if the draw was to go ahead on Thursday would be to have two seperate draws. Surely even UEFA aren't that daft?

I just dont get how they can continue with the draw.

Sevilla getting knocked out could have a serious knock on effect to the make-up of each pot, not to mention the way the draw is done with country protection etc.

I don't see why AEK Athens could potentially be a Pot 2 team simply for being in the right place at the right time.

It would cost alot of money to set up the draw, they wont change it just for the sake of one teams seeding.

The draw for the group stage of the UEFA Champions League will take place on Thursday as scheduled.

Following the death of Antonio Puerta on Tuesday, the second leg of Sevilla's third qualifying round tie with AEK Athens was postponed.

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE DRAW - LIVE ON SKY SPORTS NEWS AND ON SKYSPORTS.COM FROM 4.30PM

But Uefa has confirmed the postponement will not impact on the timing of the draw, despite the qualifier awaiting completion.

Uefa general secretary David Taylor told uefa.com: "The draw will take place on Thursday at 1800CET - as scheduled.

"There are additional complications this season related to the tragic and unforeseen circumstances that caused the postponement of the AEK Athens v Sevilla match.

"This means that both clubs will be 'provisionally' entered in this season's competition."

The potential complication to the draw concerned the two clubs' respective European co-efficients.

If Sevilla, who won the first leg 2-0, progress, then the Uefa Cup holders would be among the eight second seeds.

However, AEK Athens' co-efficient would put the Greek club in the fourth pot of seeds.

Reports suggest that AEK would be classed as second seeds in the event of overturning the tie, which has been rearranged for next Monday.
