Fergie Rested In Edinburgh

From Lindsay Herron at Tynecastle

SKIPPER Barry Ferguson is on the bench today as Rangers take on Hearts while loan signing Amdy Faye gets his first start.

Fergie is feeling a bit stiff from Wednesday's fabulous Scotland win in Paris and clearly boss Walter Smith has an eye on Wednesday's Champions League opener with Stuttgart.

It means that Davie Weir will captain the side from the heart of an unchanged defence while Faye will take Ferguson's midfield berth with DaMarcus Beasley on the left hand side.

Up front Kris Boyd and Daniel Cousin are the preferred option with Jean-Claude Darcheville, Nacho Novo and Stevie Naismith on the bench.

Youth star Rory Loy gets his first taste of the top team with a place om the bench.

RANGERS: McGregor; Hutton, Weir, Cuellar, Papac; Whittaker, Faye, Thomson, Beasley; Boyd, Cousin.

Subs - Graeme Smith. Ferguson., Darcheville, Novo, Naismith, Lennon, Loy.

Ref: Mike McCurry

bit different experience for me today. Normally have to drive into town for these early games and therefore get up at 4.30 or so. But today I get to sleep in till 5.15 and watch in on the Rangers web feed. :)

come on the Gers! :rangers:

Hutton was inside covering for the center halfs, as is only right

Cueller totally at fault, though a cracking finish it has to be said

Actually looking again, ball took a slight deflection off Huttons knee
