Your opinion on our players

Just thinking - what do you feel about each player who's vaguely playing overall right now?

AM is starting to find form at last but isn't quite up to speed yet.

Broadfoot is honest enough but an awkward looking fellow with neither particularly great pace, skill or distribution.

Bougherra seems less than secure in the air, and less than strong on the deck. He does have good pace and reasonable positional sense though, and generally marks quite well.

Weir is surely past it, and today his conduct was pretty poor again when he got into another 'scrap'.

Papac, returning from injury and one of the very few who escapes criticism. Solid and dependable enough defender.

Whittaker - not being deployed correctly, has potential to be much more than he is.

Mendes - after a brilliant start he's become inconsistent, and seems to only show his ability in patches. Slinking into a spate of overall poor form.

Thomson - before his injury a lively and hard working midfielder who gives us the Gattuso bite in the middle. Also got that fire in his belly and willing to fight.

Ferguson - miserably poor - contributes nothing but confusion to the players he obstructs. I had hoped for so much more but he's either way off speed and needs games, or he's finished.

DMB - in a perennial state of low form and confidence - when will we see him playing like we know he can.

Burke - nice to see him back, and nice to see him trying to make things happen out there. Been doing well in the reserves and deserved a chance today.

Adam - an abysmal footballer lacking in the basics who tries too much Hollywood nonsense. Also has a cowardly nasty violent streak in him.

Miller - probably our player of the season so far - has a fair few goals, works hard, runs like mad, has decent skill and creates space for others. Another who probably escapes footballing criticism.

Boyd - when against feeble opponents he looks a superstar striker - but in his entire career he has one goal V Celtic and one V Hearts. Probably benefits from Miller's presence, but remains a perennial enigma. And always will be. Kris Boyd doesn't always get you goals.

JCD - finished as a front man, but can do a job on the right with his pace and power. Pity Smith won't put him there.

Davis - another one who's had a very good season so far - while not a natural RW, he's done well there regardless - and his sad and unfortunate circumstances of recent times may deny us that form for a while, even if he returns sooner than expected.

Novo - effort, heart and desire but lacking in ability. But you can't fault what he can give to the side.

Lafferty - having a terrible season. Barely playing, and when he does, is deployed where he can't play - and has ludicrously bad performances as a result.

I think that's the main ones.

I think simply the players like: Burke, Adam, Broadfoot, JCD and even Weir are no longer good enough for Rangers.

As for the rest of them, they all seem to be very inconsistent, Mendes in my opinion being the biggest culprit.

AM should have been dropped for longer. Has cost us a few more points this season.

Broadfoot should not be in the team.

Bougherra - really like this guy (tu)

Weir should finish this season and that's it.

Papac - solid enough I suppose

Whittaker - give him a shot at right back.

Mendes - Good start but hasn't performed at all beside fergie.

Thomson - We really miss him.

Ferguson -

DMB - needs a run of games.

Burke - Would let him go in the summer unless he has an absolutely amazing year.

Adam - Please, just leave.

Miller - Missed him in the games he's missed

Boyd - Improved since the George Burley thing.

JCD - Get some new football boots. Doesn't fit in our system this year.

Davis - Player of the season so far :rangers:

Novo - Love the wee man

Lafferty - I'd give him a shot upfront.

This isnt going to go down well, but here goes

McGregor - Had a great run of form last season, but has went backwards since July. Still a great shot stopper and makes big saves. However, he doesnt command his area well enough and looks like he lacking confidence

Broadfoot - Had a good spell for 3-4 months, but has faded dramatically and is now back to the old Broadfoot who isnt a right back and isnt good enough for Rangers

Bougherra - Looked solid for the first 2 months of the season and is still a solid defender. His distribution is woeful and the backline has started to go further and further back with each week that passes.

Weir - He's finished. Last season should have been his swansong and he should have been replaced in the summer. Its not his fault, age has caught up with him

Papac - Solid this season although he is not performing at the level he was last year

Whittaker - Never a left back, cant even kick with his left foot yet Walter persists on playing him out there. Short on confidence and I dont know if he is/could be a decent right back for us as he never gets a chance.

Mendes - Started like a house on fire and was turning in some great performances. Faded dramatically in the last 5-6 game though. Barrys return? Thomsons injury? Transfer speculation? or just poor form? who knows?!

Thomson - Was playing the best football of his Rangers career until he got injured. Works hard, never gives up and offers us something that no other player in the team can

Ferguson - Been woeful since he returned. Excuse after excuse from our captain. Everyone is to blame bar him. Not good enough for the first team at this time. Games are passing him by

Davis - One of the best central midfielders in the Country, yet cant get a game in his preferred role. Been good out on the right hand side, but would offer a hell of a lot more if moved into the middle

Beasley - Goes away and performs well for his country, comes back and gets a game on a windy, rainy Saturday afternoon and then isnt seen again for weeks. Should be used when we are able to get the ball down and pass it around, but there lies the problem.

Adam - Should be nowhere near the first team. Seems to have spells on the sidelines for weeks, then Walter will bring him in for an important game or 2. Doesnt have a future at Rangers IMO

Miller - Has been our most consistent player this season and we miss him when he doesnt play. He is judged on his goals, but he offers a lot more to the team than the rest of the squad at this current time

Boyd - Poor for the first 6 games, had a 4 game spell where he looked good and has now went back to his usual ways. He'll get goals, guaranteed, but we need more from Boydy

JCD - He is finished, how he gets a game for Rangers I have no idea. He should have ended his career BEFORE he came to Rangers.

Novo - Passion, determination and heart, but lacks real quality. Another player who flatters to deceive and becomes a better player when he is sitting on the bench

Lafferty - Hasnt been given a chance in his natural position, but from what I have seen from him already he looks like a wasted on £3.5 million

I would agree with most of that, but would add that Mendes was and is great. It is just that recently and especially since Barry came back he has had very little support.

AM - still lacks a bit of confidence commanding his box

Broadfoot - still a willing player but living in the shadow of hutton expectancy syndrome

Bougherra - had one of his poorer games at tynecastle but then so did cuellar, knows the british game, has a lot of pace about him and seems to really want to win matches

Weir - sooner replaced the better

Papac - Lacks distribution more than broadfoot, and is often caught out

Whittaker - needs a run at RB

Mendes - still a class player, ferguson has been getting in his way, misses thomson and davis

Thomson - We will miss him so much this season, it is clear we lack bite when he is not playing, he was slowly turning into the best midfielder in scotland

Ferguson - Has done nothing in matches since his return, lacks fitness and awareness

DMB - has been low of form, fans get on his back and call him lightweight, hes one of the most experienced international players we have, has won trophies at PSV and performed well in europe

Burke - was a breath of fresh air to a team that clearly lacks width

Adam - out of fitness, poor distribution, set piece quality has faded

Miller - missed him recently, his running is dangerous but doubts about his finishing, works well with boyd

Boyd - apparently only scores against "diddy" teams, works well with miller, needs better service, overall game has improved and is more willing to collect the ball deep.

JCD - slowly fading, which is a shame as he can be a dangerous player

Davis - Absence missed, one of our best players this season, probably one of the only players we would be willing to play out of position regularly

Novo - suffers from poor form, gets benched, then makes a great impact coming off the bench, starts again but slowly fades, the vicious cycle keeps going, desire can never be questioned

Lafferty - So far appears to be a waste of money, for a big guy, usesless in the air, lacks a first touch and general awareness on the park, but gets let off because he is not a "winger"
