Was this not a part of the deal with Rino? I am pretty sure it was meant to have happened earlier, but for one reason or another never materiaslised.

Rino didn't move to AC Milan from us...

Of course, long term memory is blootered.

We're not exactly choc-a-bloc with fixtures this year, I see no reason why we wouldn't want this.

The Beckham/Ronaldinho/Kaka element would help bring the club's profile to the fore and it means that the fans would get to see a decent European team at Ibrox this season!

And we'd make a bit out of it :pipe:

I think the score was 2-2 the last time we played them in a friendly at Ibrox IIRC.

I seem to remember a certain Claudio Canniga ripping the pish out them and how we were up 2-0 at HT.

I cant see us giving them a game this time round. :anguish:

Lovenkrands and De Boer were exceptional in that game as well.

If it did mate, there would be legions on here slating the team for throwing the game away haha

Canniga was great, I remember it well. Not bad for a player bought from Dundee

They'd get paid to and it would raise funds for us as well.

But, as usual, the fans are the ones paying for the privilege of a meaningless game. No thanks from me.

Exactly. I don't see the club selling these tickets for say £10. Will probably cost around the same as a CL game. The irony is though that we moaned about the fixtures last season yet we can schedule a pointless friendly in amongst a vital run of games in the new year? If we were to do something like this then why not go abroad and play a game say in America where we would make a good profit and satisfy a large number of ex pats etc?

Aye but he is injured for 6 months <cr>

No it's not.

Gattuso went to Salernitana for a year after he left Ibrox.

RANGERS have lined up a glamour February friendly with AC Milan at Ibrox.

Tickets are set to go on sale before Christmas for a clash that will see household names like Ronaldinho and Kaka strut their stuff at Ibrox.

David Beckham is also set to feature after he joins Milan in January on a loan deal from LA Galaxy in a bid to keep his England career alive.

An Ibrox insider said: "It's a bonus for our supporters who have been starved of big European nights this season. It will also provide Walter and the team with a stern test as we make the big push for the title."

Meanwhile, Rangers' licensing agreement with retailer JJB Sports is in jeopardy after the company's share price dropped below 5p yesterday, raising fresh doubts over its future.

JJB have forecast a pre-tax loss of £13.2m over the year to January 2010, compared to the previous estimate of £5.7m. There is now serious concern that the company will become another victim of the economic crisis.

Rangers are only two years into their 10-year licensing deal, but may have to consider a contingency plan to sell their merchandise should JJB fail to recover.

Rangers chairman, Sir David Murray, hinted at the club's AGM that he could regain ownership of the licensing and distribution rights.

He said in October. "There is a problem there. There has to be a question mark over the long-term viability of the company. I still think it was a good deal, but we have a Plan B to take ownership back into the club. That will only happen if JJB go out of business."

Meanwhile, Gers' visit to Hamilton, on Saturday, February 28, has been brought forward to a 12.30pm kick-off and will be televised by Setanta.

A meaningless friendly that could result in one of our players picking up an injury - no thanks from me.

I don't agree with international friendlies and I'll continue my trend with this.
