  1. Diallo has offered more in twenty minutes than Sakala has offered in the last two games.
  2. The fact that Sakala is starting ahead of Diallo on the wing is ridiculous, particularly after his performance on Thursday. it’s worth remember that Diallo played well in his first game against Ross County before the Old Firm nightmare. Since then he’s not had a sniff, but everyone was shocking that day and others have been brought back into the team. Give the boy a proper chance ffs.
  3. Massive, massive improvement when Roofe came on. Sakala can’t start for us again. I’m sure he’s a good character to have around but his movement is awful, he’s technically poor and his finishing is horrendous. Kamara was very poor but on the plus side another big performance from Bassey Given how bad we were for spells of that game, we can be thankful we’re still in it and hopefully the crowd can carry us over the line next week.
  4. The answers to this are a joke. Only 20% think Bassey has been successful? I know we’re hurting but fuck sake we have some right doom and gloomers here. The guy was signed for a minimal fee, has developed across two positions and shown plenty of scope for future improvement. He’s also now a sellable asset that will fetch us a sizeable return on the initial investment we made should we decide to cash in.
  5. Clearly there's a lot of damage been done to GVB's standing with the collapse in the league, but I think it's more of a case of celtic getting their act together than our standard dropping under him - I think we're playing broadly in line with how we have all season, including under Gerrard. That said, the 3-0 Old Firm defeat was very, very poor. However, our run in Europe gets him credit, as does his history of winning trophies in a higher-standard league than the SPL. I'm definitely not completely behind him but it's not time to throw in the towel. Give him the summer, back him to build his own team and let's see where we go. We can't just sack a manager when we don't win the league.
  6. That reads like a gimpy MySpace post from 2005. It's also going to do nothing but escalate things. i've been broadly supportive of the board but they've absolutely shit the bed on this friendly issue and then their response to the protest.
  7. Great performance and celtic didn't get a sniff. Lowry, particularly in the first half, was immense. His first touch is phenomenal and some of his passing was excellent. Charlie McCann looked great, Leon King absolutely walked it and the fact celtic were limited to one shot on target says it all. My first time watching the B team and I was really impressed with how comfortable everyone is on the ball and the quality of the passing and movement. I went with my dad to watch St Mirren vs Motherwell a few weeks ago and the game was so poor it would have got football stopped. The difference in technical quality between that game and today's match was night and day, so we're clearly coaching the players in the right way. Loved the pressing and effort as well. 3-0 up in the 87th minute and our winger is tracking back to pick the celtic player's pocket. Brilliant. Most fun I can remember having at a game in ages. Was brilliant to get to go along with my dad as well.
  8. SNP voter and I got my first season ticket as a five-year-old, thirty years ago. Also polling that has shown that SNP is the most popular party amongst Rangers fans. But aye mate sure thing, no Rangers fan could ever vote for the SNP. We're a broad tent. Worry more about what's happening on the park than who other fans are voting for.
  9. Leave the questionable songs/lyrics in the past where they belong. We have better, more creative songs that we can sing. Anyone who feels the need to scream about "fenians" is just asking for the club to get into trouble.
  10. Get this in the fucking bin. It's a tribal, ferocious derby not a fucking travelling circus.
  11. Didn’t even play badly, in fact overall I thought we were pretty good. It’s just one of those games that happens in a season where you somehow drop points. Unfortunately it comes after three poor away results and performances so we had no room for error.
  12. Dogshit performance and tactics. So passive bar 20 mins in the first half and showed absolutely zero desire to go forward when we went down to ten men. Need to improve sharp going into the next fixtures.
  13. I like Bassey, he has size and speed which you can't coach into someone, and I think he's coming on well at the decision-making and positional side of the role. He's still very young and raw, but this will improve with experience. I'd say the jury is out on if he can ever be a first-choice centre back for a club with our aspirations, but I certainly think the case looks more promising now than it did a year ago.
  14. Realistically we’re not winning this competition. We’ve got through the group stages for occasions exactly like this one. Who cares if we’re likely to get battered, it’s the chance of claiming a scalp that makes it all worth it.
  15. Overall a very pleasing performance with areas for improvement. Really impressed with how much more proficient the players look playing out from the back and the refusal to just punt it long, even whilst under pressure. The pressing and shape was good as well. It's also clear that, whilst McGregor is a much better shot stopper than McLaughlin, his distribution is far worse and McLaughlin's ability to play from the back fits in much better with our playing style. Assuming this is Shagger's last season his replacement is going to need to combine those two qualities. We look very shaky on set pieces, though. We need to tighten that up or else we'll suffer. I'd also have liked a bit more cutting edge. Overall, very happy though.
  16. Seems like we're willing to go more direct, although there were spells (ten mins in the first half and basically 70 mins onwards) when we couldn't keep the ball or get out. That was concerning. Also seems like the midfield is much more fluid than under Gerrard, particularly whilst pressing. There were a few occasions where the team clearly didn't know who should be pressing or where they should be, but that's to be expected with a new system. I think at points Aribo was actually in the striker slot. I like that we're playing in behind quicker and trying to break the offside trap. It's good to try and play the through ball early rather than on the edge of the opposition's box, which was becoming the norm under Gerrard. Plenty of positives but definitely areas to improve. Can't ask for more than a win, a clean sheet and European qualification though. Pleased!
  17. Dutch people are renowned for their bluntness. It’ll be interesting to see how the dressing room reacts to this over the months and years ahead.
  18. The captaincy is symbolic and has no real impact on anything. It's nothing more than an armband. What matters is the character and professionalism of those in the dressing room. Changing captain won't do anything apart from tank the morale of Tav and Goldson.
  19. We need to be calm. Today was a kick in the balls but in football things are never as bad or as good as you think. The team hasn't been playing well and is short of confidence but the ability is broadly still there. Goldson hasn't been great and is an easy target because of the contract situation but with Helander out he's by far our best centre back and his diagonal passing and long balls are a useful tool, especially to pick out runners from midfield into the opposition's final third. Tavernier also hasn't hit the heights of last season but has popped up with some important contributions. Barisic however has been awful all season. I'd give both a rest for a few matches and let Patterson and Bassey have a run at full back. I'm not quite as high on Patterson as most people seem to be and think Tavernier is overall still a significantly better player, but there's tonnes of raw potential and he's clearly playing with confidence, so let him have a chance and see if he can give us some impetus. It's time to sit Davis. He's coming up for 37 and time has caught up with him. He's a good option to maintain what we have (ie see out a win), but we need to be more assertive in midfield and that means not starting both Davis and Kamara. Morelos has been really poor this season, and frankly for large portions of last season. I don't think Sakala is the answer and Roofe consistently has injury issues. Either you try and get Morelos to modify his game and spend more time in the box or you hope Roofe can stay fit. Again we don't need major surgery, just a boost to our confidence and a few good results and we'll be back on our way.
  20. I don't know if it's a weight, fitness or residual injury issue but he no longer looks able/willing to sprint in behind. He's constantly coming short and holding the ball up but the main job of a striker is to turn the centre backs and get in the box. It's no wonder his goal record has regressed.
  21. Pathetic and gutless. Also, some of the worst subs I have ever seen that completely killed our momentum. Why the fuck do you take off two creative ball carriers in Kent and Aribo but leave on two midfielders that can sit in Kamara and Davis until the 80th minute. Shambles.
  22. Congratulations to the board for getting this done in such a quick and professional manner. It's even more impressive when you take into account that we lost our manager very suddenly.
  23. Stop with the shite "rat" patter and hoping he fails. It's like a spurned lover upset that his ex has left him for someone else. We thank him for his service and the memories he created and we move on. The club is always bigger than one man and he left us in far better shape than we were in when he took over. We can be thankful for that whilst recognising that how he left isn't ideal. On to the next one and hopefully a new manager can galvanise the squad.
