  1. The city to host the NARSA convention is voted on 2 years in advance. It is a large undertaking to organize a 3-4 day convention for 1,500+ people with hotels, 3 functions, golf tournaments, day trips, programs etc. Not something volunteers could throw together in a couple of months. Calgary RSC are already working on 2008.
  2. A very good post IMHO I don't think we have lost the traditions you speak about above but they have certainly been diluted, to the extent we now have rifts in our support that often make Ibrox like a morgue. It is left up to supporters groups like TBO or CDL to try and get the splintered groups of fans going. Religion and unionism, rightly or wrongly was something we, in the main, had in common and helped bond us together. Political correctness is driving a wedge between our support and diluting our traditions and taking away from the enjoyment that the atmosphere adds to a day out at the football for this old "dinosaur".
  3. The best Rangers player I've seen on the park was Jim Baxter but my Idol is Davie Cooper.
  4. From players I have seen Goram Shearer Greig Butcher Gough Cooper Baxter McDonald (Alex) Laudrup McCoist Stein
  5. My heart goes out to you Coop. I don't know if I could have coped with your problems. I have lived overseas for 25 years now. I am fortunate enough to have a good job that pays very well. For the past 16 years I've made my home in Orlando Florida. I'm in my 50's but lucky enough that both my parents (well into their 80's) are fit enough to travel over from Scotland every year. I get regular visits from family and friends (6 are coming over in June to stay with me and take in the NARSA convention). The only tangable thing that keeps me going back regularly is the Rangers. I go back to take in 4-6 games a season and when back in Orlando nothing stops me from going to our RSC to see the games. The Rangers are the only thing that I truely miss.
  6. I agree he's not the best but I'd still have him before Svensson. With Hemdani and Thompson in midfield allowing Barry to push further forward. I'm feeling positive about tomorrow. That's something I've not said a lot this year.
  7. It would be good for the west coast bears but it's nearly as cheap and easy for me to fly to Glasgow from my home in Orlando than it is to fly to LA, San Fran or Vancouver. When I fly to Glasgow I see competitive games not friendly games. The country is just that big. The Toronto area has by far the biggest Rangers support in North America but I would imagine that only a few would fly the 3,000 miles to LA for a friendly, more likely to fly the 3,500 miles to Glasgow for a league game. After saying that I still believe it is a great idea for Rangers to visit the US. At school level football (soccer) is now the biggest game in the states and I believe it's just a matter of time before it takes off big time. That's the reason that LA Galaxy are gambling $250 million over 5 years on Beckham. Let's hope we can get in at the start.
  8. I've gone Win Win Draw Draw win I can never force myself into putting down a loss for us.
  9. My time is spent 50-50 between Saudi Arabia and Orlando Florida. Our local club is Orlando RSC from the Fox and Hounds. All are welcome.
  10. I'd say that murray is a better all round utility player but for a left back I would have to go for Smith.
  11. LA Galaxy must have a tie in with the media somewhere. It's the only way they could give Becks a $250 million contract. This would give us a chance to strut our stuff over there on TV before the dark side. Anyone know when Beckham's contract starts? On a personal note, I've just changed my work schedule to be off for the NARSA convention. Of course if we get to the UEFA cup final the dates would probably change.
  12. Might have to look for another website if this is the type of reply I can expect from "a fellow bear" ???????????????? on here.
  13. I was at the 3 home games. Still fairly young so don't remember too much except Forrest and Ralph Brand scoring. I remember dancing back to the bus after the Scottish Cup game, I think Henderson scored that day 2-0.
  14. Born in Dunfermline. Mothers side of family from Glasgow. Grew up as a Rangers fan. Work in the oil industry and moved to the Middle East in 1982 and have been working there month on month off ever since. I bought a house and spend most of my time off in Florida. I always come back to Scotland August September for 4-5 weeks and get 4-5 games in then. Watch all the other games in the RSC in Orlando.
  15. Never thought of joining us in the Fox and Hounds on 192. We show all the games live and have a good laugh. PM me if you want more details.
  16. He likes a good Swally as well so hope they pay him enough.
  17. Part of the problem is you seem to think that everybody who is not of the same opinion as yourself is a bigot going by your reference to our servicemen being killed and DS's comments I live half my life on a compound surrounded by army, only this week we are under increased alert after 3 French expats were shot dead. Does that mean that all Saudi Arabians are bigots? After all their Koran tells how everyone who is not a Muslim is an Infedel and 99.9% of them devote lives to Islam. Christianity like all other religions is not tolerated here. Are you the bigot because you don't believe as others do?
  18. McGregor, Hutton, Sionko, Burke, Adam, Novo, Murray, Svensson are all rated to play for Rangers and I don't think any of them are good enough to play forRangers. Therefor I think they are all over rated.
  19. I am not trying to convince you simply stating facts. A large percentage of people on here mainly the PC crowd are condeming organizations they know little or nothing about.
  20. Why is it that most people on this thread seem to associate TBB, NPOR, FTP etc with the Rangers support that are either members of the OO or Free Masonry or even "genuine" Protestantism. We should be proud to be affiliated to Free Masons (one of the largest charitable organizations in the world) as are the Orange Order. As someone that lives in the States you should ask about the childrens hospitals donated by the Free Masons and the Shriners (they are linked).
  21. I think a central defender. The old guys will be lucky to see next season.
  22. Sorry to hear about your father mate. I hope you find your ties.
  23. The Sunday sport. At least you'll have something to cheer you up after any bad news.
  24. what i mean is 'how can the same players play such pish against the likes of Falkirk then turn it on against Happoel, I need to give 100% every DAY in my job,NOT JUST 90 minutes a week There must be days when you are more productive than others. Feel a bit off color, something on your mind or even a hangover so your not concentrating 100% on the task at hand. It's the same for players. Where I worry is that we pay ordinary players too much simply because they are playing for Rangers. There are many players at least the equal of Adam, Burke, Sionko etc etc not making nearly the same money because they play for smaller teams. Brown of Hibs is the perfect example, according to the press late last year he was making less than 2,000 pounds a week where Burke is supposed to earn 13,000.
  25. I wish people would stop labelling these "old boys" as the FTP brigade. It's all relative. To some, "young pups in their 30's and 40's are old". This is the group that grew up when the NI troubles were at there worst and most of the paramilitary songs that are now deemed, by most people on this forum at least, to be distasteful or even Sectarian. Real old farts like me just forget what we are debating. :pipeguy:
