  1. But what does our club stand for? I don’t think it’s necessarily for PUL as many believe. Bear with me here. This is what I was talking about earlier about both sides getting entrenched in their views. There is a nuance between demanding parity and being unionist. There may come a time when the majority of Scots support independence. maybe not now, or even soon, but if it does come then Glasgow Rangers will still have a place in that society. If it does come I hope it is on the back of a political system that is rooted in optimism and inclusiveness with a view to promoting the best that the diverse people of Scotland have to offer. the SNP do not have that approach and in fact are unfit for office with an “independence at all cost” scorched earth policy. They are culpable in running the country into the ground and blaming “westmonster”. It is a cult that seeks to ostracise non-believers. It’s horrible. All politicians are cants. But this one party has amalgamated more than most and their track record has landed Scotland in a horrible state. Nationalism is never a good look and their tactics of attacking the “establishment” (read majority) to further their Indy agenda is abhorrent but …..unfortunately….. working.
  2. Because the attack vector is religion and anti-Irish ness. There is not really a discussion to be had without addressing Catholics and those of Irish descent. SNP lickspittles are trying to use that to tear down the British Institution that is Rangers.
  3. Not sure if you are actually interested in discussing this or, like so many in internet land, have already formed a view and will just put it out there to entrench that view and polarise the discussion? What the internet is very bad for is nuanced discussion. It’s one of the major ails of our society that environments where people could come together and have nuanced discussion and to see the perspective of others are now so rare. Nowadays every minor disagreement on views is a major schism in our society. I am going to share a dirty little secret, I have absolutely no beef with Catholics and I have no beef with the Irish. I am no fan of the Catholic church, as it happens probably one of the most brutal of all the cults, but I am atheist and I consider all religions more or less the same. I have some of my best friends from Ireland and aside from the fact they are mostly atheist they are also wonderful people. The mindset of the old days where we tended not to sign them and tended to frown upon intermarriage was a product of its day. There were reasons for it and reasons that we would struggle to grasp today. This propensity to judge historic behaviours by a yardstick of today’s standards is madness. Nowadays I don’t think many Rangers fans give a flying fuck about religion. But the anti-SNP sentiment from the Rangers support is not about “anti-Catholicism” or “anti-Irish”. That’s a narrative that is trying to be painted by the politicians. If the truth be absolute, it is not entirely about unionism either, although that is a consideration. The anti-SNP sentiment right now among the Rangers support is almost entirely about double standards. Rangers as a club and as a fan base have been targeted for the last 15 years by the government of their own country. Is it a coincidence that the government of this country has been the SNP for those 15 years? All sensible Rangers fans support the “everyone anyone” campaign. All sensible Rangers fans have left the sectarianism behind. All supports of all football clubs, just like society, have arseholes in their support. But only one club is being consistently targeted for that element of their support. Only one club is being constantly punished, defamed, denigrated and ostracised. When it was the lunatic fringe they were going after, there was little appetite to defend it, but now they are going after everyone and inventing offence for their own agenda. All Rangers fans demand is parity and equal treatment. Absence of parity speaks to bias and prejudice. That prejudice is not driven by tolerance and sanity or a desire to eradicate sectarianism. It is being driven for a political agenda perpetuated by the SNP, or perhaps more specifically “Sepetatists”. The Separatists hate Rangers. They hate the quintessential Britishness of the club. They hate the Union Flag. They hate the Queen on our dressing room wall. They hate us singing GSTQ. If you can’t see that I don’t know what you are looking at. Rangers don’t hate the SNP and Rangers fans obviously vote for them because otherwise they wouldn’t be in power, but make no mistake they hate Rangers and the hate and campaigning is escalating and coming out of the shadows so that it is now overtly ok to hate all things British and actually consider being British as being racist and xenophobic. That’s the narrative being pushed. It won’t be long before the Union Flag is considered a racist symbol. No one can tell another person who to vote for. That’s a personal decision. Football and politics SHOULD be different but it’s not Rangers fans who are bringing the politics into football. You need to consider what’s important to you and evaluate what kind of society you want to live in, and vote for those that most closely match your values. However, I can completely understand the confusion of many people who see the disparity of treatment of the football club they love by this government, and question how others can reconcile that treatment with their own values. You have to remember that even if people are no longer religious, or even care about religion, they still have many of the values instilled in them from those times. Honesty, integrity, hard work, loyalty, fairness. All that being considered, is it beyond comprehension that Rangers Fans, who make Rangers an enormous part of their life, can reach a position where they are unable to reconcile voting for a party that is so determined to tear down that club?
  4. It’s us that keep him relevant bu responding to him, following him and arguing with him. Dignified silence is a shite approach but he is just the type of oxygen thief that you need to ignore.
  5. The club you support shouldn’t dictate the political party you vote for. But the SNP hatred of all things Rangers and their constant attacks on the club and it’s supporters is surely a consideration? How Can you stand shoulder to shoulder with your fellow fans, be subjected to marginalisation, othering and dehumanising and think, “aye this is the party for me”
  6. As enjoyable as this all is, there are only two things that are going to bring about meaningful change. One is voting the SNP out of government and the other is regime change in the SPFL. Everything else is just window dressing really.
  7. The sheer volume of Rangers hating employees of the Record and Mail is staggering.
  8. Said it for years but we never seem to get riled up enough. It feels like now is the time. It’s easy to say but doesn’t seem so easy to bring into reality.
  9. There is no doubt about that. I wouldn’t have rejoined if I thought he was just a chancer trying to take the blue pound. (Which he jokes about often). I rejoined because he represents my views as a Rangers fan. I believe he needs to win this battle and I want to be sure even if the club distance themselves, he continues to be a voice for the fans.
  10. When the court of public opinion is so stacked against you. When the people in authority to decide what is “anti-Irish racism” and what is “harmless football banter” are all of a certain demographic. When decades of propaganda and “othering” of one set of fans comes to a head. That’s when they will try to kill the resistance. this is not going to be won by screenshots of people saying H**. This needs to be fought in the polling booths, in the advertising budgets, in the traffic of websites and in the pockets of those supporting this agenda. Rangers fans seem to be rallying around Edgar. It needs to be in the form of actual activism.
  11. I rejoined his paid service yesterday. As did over a 1000 others. On his daily update he said at least 800 had upped their subscription amount. He increased his income by a significant amount and good for him because we need to start actual meaningful and impactful moves to counter the current one sided campaign against us.
  12. Right. But if we are as cash strapped as some would have you believed we would have accepted lower offers. If the board believe that we can resist any approaches for our players that do not meet our valuations then that is to be applauded. you only have to look at St Johnstone letting their playing assets go for relative peanuts to see how these things could play out. The alternative would be that we are as cash strapped as some would have you believe and admin is in our future.
  13. It is just the way the world is. And none of us are doing one single fucking thing to change it. Arguing amongst ourselves about whether or not telling a population of perpetual victims to sort themselves out is acceptable
  14. Tell you what. There is some amount of energy being put into this thread. If everyone who has written more than 5 posts just wrote a letter to their MP and copied it to police scotland we might start making a difference. How about the 50k that were in Ibrox on Sunday get organized and send a letter and maybe even a tweet. How about even a 5th of them organise a protest against the use of sectarian language aimed at Rangers fans.
  15. While I agree with what your saying. I also see the concern of where it ends. The whole danger of this type of spiral is that it is entirely objective. offence is a Personal choice. You are spot in so far as they have run a campaign of being offended by our songs but if they have had success in having Famine Song, Billy Boys and Super Rangers banned then where do they stop. Mind the Bouncey was celebration of dancing on the heads of Catholicos. Oh how we laughed. But we won’t be laughing if the tell that lie often enough it becomes their alternative facts. Stopping the naughty songs is required today. But we need to start fighting back. If only to draw a line. But fighting back is not going to involve defiantly singing against the Clubs requests nor by saying “but they do it too” it has to be in the manner said earlier.
  16. Folk asking the club to fight Woke Culture. Or what Alf Garnett used to call “PC gone mad” Rangers Football Club are leading the charge on the transition to an inclusive modern football club. They are taking the right approach. Condemning those within our support that refuse to acknowledge the societal shift while also highlighting that it is not a Glasgow Rangers problem but a societal problem. I say this as someone who is outraged by the hijacking of free speech and the dark path we are embarking on that essentially is Orwell’s thought police. The erosion of our fundamental freedoms on so many different fronts is appalling in my opinion. Aided and abetted by mock offended, fragile character, snowflakes with the enormous social media platforms to spout their perma-offended drivel to make up for the massive psychological hole in their miserable existence. But the club can’t take on that fight, it is not their place. They can set the standard of inclusivity and positivity that our current society requires and they can respond decisively when it’s supporters do not reach those standards. The fact that there is such double standards allowed to persist is a different thing and is a function of the quality of government that has been elected. You get the government you deserve. The only path out of the current decline of society in UK generally and Scotland in particular is for people to become activists. Educate themselves, raise their level of influence in society, campaign for the politics they believe in. Get into positions of influence and control and change the narrative from the inside. In Scotland the majority have been asleep at the wheel while those of differing and minority political views have been working tirelessly for decades to position themselves to be able to direct this one sided nonsense and be above reproach. This didn’t happen over night, it’s been encroaching over decades. And it will take decades of activism to undo. Sitting and whining about it on a forum will change fuck all and ignoring it and singing the naughty songs in defiance will only make it worse. Make the change that society is demanding today and do something that moves you toward the society you want.
  17. Yeah, they used to. Strange it has stopped. I am guessing it’s not by choice. There is maybe some clause in some contract that prevents PPV? Some games can be purchased individually at one point they were offering access to interviews for a quid so it’s not like they don’t have the technology to do it
  18. Understand everyone has different circumstances but I buy the unlimited package every year for £240 GBP which according to google translates to $417 Canadian. maybe you are paying tax on that too? For me, not only do I feel that represents great value for money, but also I feel it’s a small contribution as an overseas bear who is not paying for a season ticket, not buying as much merchandise and not putting money in through match day spending. RTV is not perfect but the quality is getting better year on year and having Clive Tyldesley, Kevin Thomson, Neil McCann, Emma Dodds etc is a great line up. Plus they get fast interviews with the manager and players after games. The unlimited also gives you so much more content and for me it’s worth every penny.
  19. Well for what it’s worth, I hate that lot more now than I have ever hated them. When I was growing up in the 80s the rivalry was more with Aberdeen. Didn’t really GAF about them. However Keevins lost it when he said racism wasn’t a thing back then. When you are stoking the flames of hatred and trying to make things worse instead of better you sometimes lose your train of thought. To be pitied and retired
  20. The entire back four have started the season badly. No doubt. But any team we play is going to have chances. Last year was not Normal. It’s not normal to be counting on the fingers of one hand how many shots on target you are giving up. When your back four start the season poorly you are going to give up some shots on goal. But today was an improvement and it will get better. As mentioned I would prefer the Old Firm game was a couple more games down the line but we have to deal with it now and hope the stalwarts of last season regain that level or something close to it.
  21. I suspect because Balogun did a job last season. I don’t recall any complaints about him last year. He has started this season poorly but so has Goldson, Barisic and Tav. Throw in Arfield, Lundstram and Kent into that category too
  22. Fuck me. I consider myself pretty pessimistic but this place tonight is next level. “The scum would have taken double figures off them” what the actual fuck. The scum took 6 off 10 men yesterday with the aid of some dodgy refereeing and suddenly they are world beaters who would take double figures off 11 in Dingwall? Utter lunatic. an unlucky penalty and some sloppy defensive coverage. The defence needs a bit more focus and Gerrard called it out in post match but otherwise pretty good days work. Kamara and Aribo work well together, Alfie will get sharper but still drags defenders all over the place. Would like to have had the old firm match a couple of weeks later but we should be good.
  23. Lazy in defence. Tav the main culprit but everyone bar Bassey was too relaxed. Balogun played well last season. He has started this campaign dreadfully as have Goldson and Tav. Helander needs to play if fit.
