Katic is undroppable right now. Goldson is not and with Helander knocking on the door there should only be one guy dropping out. However we should not touch it as long as it is working.

Possibly. And probably why you see so many fans venting frustration that the club aren’t doing that. But i am not sure the club should or could. Gogzy is right, if we can be arsed as a support, we need to play them at their own game and report other clubs fans for their indiscretions. Realistically our fans are mostly employed and aren’t obsessed enough to do so however there is thena big long discussion about apathy and representation of the majority in positions of power ......blah blah blah

It’s just not such a simple issue. If it was then It would be easy. We are currently presented with a simple choice. Ditch the songs or get fined. It’s that easy and we should all rally round and ditch the songs. Thats the end of that simplified issue. Next level of the issue is whether we can retain the tunes but change the words to purely football related words because they are great anthems. It seems, bizarrely, that this is not to be entertained. For me this raises questions about the motive for the action in the first place? But then there is the next level of the issue. Parity. We should not be singled out in this treatment. Others should be sanctioned for the same things. Otherwise it’s victimisation. Next level is the fact that this is a societal issue. When is that going to be tackled instead of targeting football fans for the issues in society. I don’t understand why the OP is being criticised for what is a legitimate question. I would love to hear Gerard’s explanation for this is and if we had decent journalists in this country I would like them to ask him that question. Maybe he has a good answer but it is fast becoming a managerial trait of his that he doesn’t make subs when it seems obvious that certain players are flagging and he makes subs too late when the game needs changed. He has my full confidence and I don’t think it has cost us significantly but equally I don’t believe he should be beyond question and I would love to hear his insights on this approach

We have four very good CHs all who are pretty young for the position. Helander gets all the headlines because of the fee paid for him but Edmondson is a very handy player as well. Its a very interesting problem to have and I am not sure we have ever been so well endowed with Centre halves? It always seems to have been a position where the first choice pairing was obvious and we had one solid back up and a youth player. We have 4 very strong first team players and Gerrard has a job keeping them all happy

Gerrard looked proper scunnered with the questions. Must be soul destroying having to deal with the same shite day in day out. I would wager that pre-match press conferences are the worst part of a managers job.

Doubt it. Two players, one position. I am happy with one replacing the other. Whichever way they start it must be a depressing sight for a defender to see one go off and the other choking to get on.

Helander May or may not be a dud. Time will tell. However there’s a few observations on the discussion. Firstly Karl Svensson shows that playing for your national team doesn’t guarantee anything. Numerous players have come to Rangers and despite previous successes haven’t made it here, so I am not really sure why people would dismiss these rumours out of hand based on his history. Dismiss the rumours based on the fact he needs time for sure but not because he has played in Italy and for Sweden secondly we can debate his abilities for weeks, until he has a chance to demonstrate them, but no one will convince me it was a necessary signing. He could turn out to be our best CH but Goldson Katic and Edmondson were already in place and are all very good players and with a youth prospect, or bosman, as added back up we were absolutely fine at CH. we need a LB and that’s where we should have focussed

I love that Gerrard is here, I think he completely gets our club. He is exactly what we needed when we needed it. However i am under no illusion that Liverpool is HIS club. If they come in for him at any point I fully understand that he will be gone.

Title won’t be decided in the old firm games. They will be decided at games like our opener at Kilmarnock. That’s why the injury time winner was so critical. Gerrard still makes subs a little later than I would like and he still seems to have his trusted guys (Flanagan and Goldson in particular) who get a game regardless of form but weave built up a momentum right now and if we can carry it through the first round of games we will be in great shape this league will go to the wire imo and every single point is going to be needed and I think our manager will handle that better than the other guy

I thought Goldson was brilliant last night. I don’t think any of us have seen enough of Edmundson to determine if he is better than Goldson but he certainly has potential.

If he continues the new found self control then the management team have worked miracles. I genuinely thought after the Old Firm red that he was done with us. Didn’t see any way back but he seems to have found a mentality that allows him to still play on the edge but there has been almost no reaction to fouls and far less complaining and scowling. I would have taken 15 m for him up until June but now it would be mega bucks and I would rather have the player for this season to stop 9.
