  1. Big Eck's best signing would have to be Boyd for me. For me McLeish's best signing was his letter of resignation.
  2. Not sure if I agree with this. Souness wasn't a Rangers man. Wenger wasn't an Arsenal man, Mourinho a Chelsea man or Ferguson a United man. Being a childhood supporter is not a qualification, it's a bonus. The most important thing is being a good manager. I'd rather have a non-Rangers supporter who brought us success and glory than a dyed-in-the-wool bluenose who was a failure. what an excellent title BEAST Why thank-you ma'am

  4. No it's my turn for the XXL jacket
  5. Agreed up to a point, however we do have Buffel, Burke and Sionko on our books just now who are meant to be the "flair" players. We need a mix of skill and graft. It's been as much the latter as the former which has been missing in recent times.
  6. As I've said before, they care more about hating us than they do about supporting their own team. Sad inferiority-complex ridden pondlife.
  7. As far as I know Walter has never played with a back three with Rangers Everton or Scotland. I really don't see him doing it now. It's not the time for experiments.
  8. Agreed but it would be net ?2M if we get the money we're asking for Clement. ?2M outlay on those three would be an excellent move IMO.
  9. I think it will be Brown and either McCulloch or Gow. We need a more defensively minded left sided midfielder as a direct replacement for Clement. Neither McCulloch or Gow will fill that role.
  10. I'd guess Walter's targets for this season are: Finishing 2nd in the SPL Reducing the points defecit to Celtic to single figures. Reaching at least the last 16 of the UEFA cup. All 3 should be achievable but he will not be able to do it with the current squad for obvious reasons. He has to look at short term quick fixes in key areas first and in parallel look to address things longer term. I have no problem at all with the signing of Weir as part of this process indeed his experience may help turn Svensson into the player we thought we were getting. I'm less sure about Ehiogu though, I'd rather stick with Weir and Svensson with Webster maybe coming back into contention later this season.
  11. Which 5 managers ? I can get McLeish, PLG and Walter (for his first game anyway) but who else ? Are you counting Durrant's one game in charge ? Even with that - who else ?
  12. In many ways I like Hutton, there's no doubting his committment or his affection for the club, he's managed to overcome a lot of unwarrented abuse from his own fans and on his day he's a decent right back. BUT. Is he good enough to make the position his own for the next few years - I have my doubts. Unless there is a major improvement under Walter with regard to his consistancy I forsee that we'll have a new RB maybe not in January but certainly in the summer.
  13. If it happens then that's Scotland fecked then.
  14. It would be worth taking a look at Simon Davies, Everton are looking to offload him for ?2-3M.
  15. Isn't an England flag with a red hand on it an Ulster flag ?
  16. I think McCulloch is a decent player and would be an improvement to the current squad. Is he the player to take us to the "next level"......maybe not but let's face it we've been struggling to maintain our place in the current level in the last two years. If we can get him for a reasonable price I'd say yes go for it.
  17. Of the German international player who played for Spurs within the last couple of seasons ?
  18. Actually I think Hearts probably still beat us for that title.
  19. While I don't agree with those that say he does nothing apart from score, I do think he must improve his overall game. It's a bit of a cliche but modern strikers are effective outside the box as well as inside. PLG was right in this regard but the way he went about things was wrong and was ultimately part of his own downfall.
  20. Indeed, Rangers have always had English players in the side. I wonder if people would kick up so much of a fuss about it if it was any other countries tops people were wearing. I think it's a generational thing as well. People of my age (mid 30's) and older were generally brought up as Rangers and Scotland fans. I would no more consider wearing an England top than I would a Celtic one.
  21. Just goes to re-inforce how bad McLeish was. Let's not forget that with all the PLG/Walter stuff going on.
  22. exactly ok the signings didn't hit the ground running but you could see the potential...there were signs on the good days of some very impressive football being played, if luck had been on our side on the days we had created so many chances the points difference with Celtic wouldn't have been so great. If only the guys had just tried to follow 100% what he was asking them we could have gone to a new level but it wasn't to be Sorry but it's the managers job to ensure that the players follow his instructions. If he can't do that then he shouldn't be there in the first place. what do you wish a manager do? run on the park and kick the feckers arse? He tried to manage the situation by dropping him, what else could he do, coz given the way things appear to be between PLG & Fergie a wee chat would not have worked. anyway PLG has gone now, lets move forward. WATP I expect a manager to manage. I manage at my work, if someone was deliberately undermining me then I would come down on them like a ton of bricks. I wouldn't conduct a campaign in the press. I wouldn't leave things until they hit such a low that it became a "him or me" scenario. I wouldn't allow a deep divide to be created among other members of my team. Make no mistake, PLG was at fault for this. If Barry had tried that with Walter or Souness or Advocaat his feet wouldn't have touched the ground. Two of the most important skills any manager in any industry must have are strong decisive leadership and conflict management. As far as I can tell PLG displayed neither quality.
  23. That's the way they are. Their hatred of us is more important to them than their love of their own club.
