  1. Boston is a big place. I'm sure there are Bears there. Don't forget the Bears travelling from across the US. Seems a lot of people on here are scared of playing in Boston.
  2. Glasgow has a large plastic paddy population...
  3. I really don't get all the objection to this.
  4. LOL! Fantastic! Would love a German team. My Dad's 50th this August, so would be great to get him a wee trip to Germany to watch the Rangers play! (My Dad used to live in Berlin for 6 years)
  5. Did he not leave the Belgium job, with a view to take on the Russia job? Pretty sure he is staying with AZ
  6. Goram Numan Greig Gough Jardine Cooper McCall Gascoigne Laudrup Hately McCoist Sir Walter Smith
  7. Kev, to quote Meatloaf, you took the words right out of my mouth. (No kissing involved though ) We as a nation are stuck with the attitude that we should make do with what we have
  8. jimbeam, everything you have said in this thread has been so negative. Why can't we produce a generation of players who are better than our lot at the moment? Why can't we follow the Dutch example, or implement ideas to actually change our game for the better? Part of the reason, I would wager, is attitudes exactly like yours. This belief that we are only Scotland, and we are not blessed with natural talent. Bullshit. Very few players are born footballing genius', and it is no concidence that those countries who dominate the world game, have the best coaching methods and attitudes to the game. You say our culture makes us different. You say potential stars will be drawn to a life of fucking and drinking. Aye possibly, but that happens already. The ones that are committed, the ones that truely want to succeed will stay the course, screw the nut, and succeed. Why? Because if they don't there will be someone else ready and willing to take their place. You want kids to retain and interest in the game. Give them the facilities, i.e. absolutely no red blaze! Take the focus out of winning at all costs and put it into developing their skills and actually enjoying the game. Being a natural midfielder (and a smaller one at that), I used to get so dissillusioned at being bypassed in a game, by big centre halves punting the ball up to the strikers.
  9. No offence, but the win at all costs mentality is EXACTLY the problem with youth development. In my experience most people who play sports are already competitive, and if you are not, then that attitude is spotted and weeded out by coaches at professional clubs. As for red-ash pitches, the less said the better
  10. Like DBBTB, I am 'over' Hutton. The club goes on, regardless of who comes and goes. That said I always watch out for ex-bears, like to see them do well. So in that respect I hope Hutton gets back to where he could/should be. I've not decided which applies yet.
  11. Now now, Andy Dibble was a pure legend!
  12. Being neutral I really have no great preference. From a Rangers point of view, I don't want Lyon or Bayern to win given the possibility that it would condemn us to a qualifier, which we would be unlikely to win. Just to wade in on the whole 'best footballing side' argument. People forget that everything is football. That goes for goalkeeping, defending, attacking, tactics, and so on. So when people talk about loving football, then it is wrong to dismiss fans who appreciate the skill involved with world class defending. Yes Messi is a joy to watch, and I have no doubt we'll all be telling our kids about when we saw him play at Ibrox, but for me the real 'best team in the world' is the team that plays to their strengths. That is what we did on our Uefa cup run, and that is also what Barca do. They possess fantastic attacking minded players and they play the game based on that. Inter play a more defensive game, again based on their strengths. When teams try to be something they are not, more often that not, they lose. We only need to look at Tony 'Messiah' Mowbray to realise that.
  13. It is amazing how much of an effect the club and support has on player, especially the foriegn guys. Laudrup, Albertz, Gattuso, Prso, Novo and now Boumsong. We truly are the people!
  14. Hindsights a wonderful thing! To be fair there were not that many at the time up in arms about releasing Adam, and rightly so. The move was best for all concerned. Had Adam stayed he would be lingering about our bench, picking up wages and contributing nothing.
  15. Outside football, Team Europe at the 2004 Ryder cup was pretty special
  16. Kudos to you for admitting it. There will be many who won't
  17. How long before all the Big Eck haters finally realise the man is a top manager?
  18. Any reason why they only go up to 2002?
  19. Aye but mate i think what Yaco and other people get at is that if you are a Rangers fan you shouldnt ever play for them( i agree and think this too) i dont think you need to be diehard or think Rangers are the most important thing in your life to have the dignity/self pride (or w/e you call it )to tell them to gtf if they came calling As far as I know Miller is a Hibs Fan, but if you play for either us or them, you really shouldn't sign for the other one, and you certainly shouldn't have the cheek to come back. You kind of put the hole in your own argument there. Miller is not a Rangers fan. He is a professional who plies his trade for those who wish to employ him. Unless you can provide a rational reason why you should never cross the old firm divide...
  20. Poor performance tonight. Papac struggled to handle O'Brien, Miller was having an off night. Lafferty's touch continue's to let him down. Pitch was shocking. Yes both teams have to play on it, but Motherwell are used to it. To think that is advertising SPL football on live TV... However you know me, I'm all about the positives At times we attacked well, one or two moves were excellent. Boyd has got his first goal since coming back, first of many more I'm sure. We took more than we deserved and that point could, although lets hope not, be very valuable come May. We were never going to win all our remaining games, so being realistic tonight is no where close to a disaster. Chin up lads
  21. Club chairman said that would not be happening at the AGM in December... Perhaps we could ask Steve Jobs at Apple Computers to sponsor the stadium. Surely we could all live with iBrox Stadium Excellent Idea!
