The Dude got a reaction from surfsup2 in Fight the sfa
I have plenty of constructive ideas to fight our corner.
First one - which wouldn't do much but would certainly give them an idea of the strength of feeling amongst fans - would be to have a small protest at a wee event the SFA are hosting this weekend. I'm sure thousands of bears at Hampden before, during and after the Cup Final would cause them a massive headache.
I'd stop giving a penny to other clubs in this country. No tickets, no increased allocations, no players on loan, no teams sent to play them in testimonials. Nothing.
Provide the absolute minimum required for any SFA/SPFL events. If we have to provide players for events send youth players along.
Stop the cosy wee arrangements we have with celtic over votes on the SFA/SPFL boards. (we stand a candidate/they dont and vice-versa).
I'd go out of our way to highlight every transgression by every club in the country - regardless of how petty - if necessary release statements every month highlighting said issues that haven't been dealth with.
Bin the PR guru who is more interested in fighting battles with his former colleagues on our dime than doing his job.
Release the 5WA, in its entirety, and lay bare quite the hurdles we had to agree to jump through to get our licence.
and probably most importantly, hire executives from outwith the Scottish football bubble who doesn't care about ruffling some feathers just because it might hurt who they play golf with.

It was. Green was more than prepared to accept title stripping as a consequence of getting the licence to play. McCoist - and others including Sandy Jardine - firmly put him in his place over that one.

Still never been refuted to this day that the monorail salesman was about to hand over titles

The ‘top end’ is £100k (despite the max being 5m) so if it is a cash grab then think they’d go for that.

I'm not sure the relevance to anything in the thread, but thanks for coming along.

It's the 'wee tax case'. Someone (can't remember who) said in evidence during whyte's trial that we knew it was a payable overdue at some point in late 2010 - and not a disputed figure - so that is what kicked off the new investigation.
EDIT:The late 2010 overdue statement contradicted the club's previous claims to the SFA that it was in dispute at that time iirc which is what specifically made it an issue

Aye I think that's it actually. Knew there was a bit more too it but details are sketchy as there's been so much shit and injustice fired at us these past 6/7 years.

Agreement between oldco, newco, SFA, SPL and SFL (SPL & SFL merged in 201; to become SPFL). Basically covered the terms of our membership transfer and Green signing away certain transfer fees and tv/prize money in return.

I was of the assumption that option would have taken a very lengthy time process and we wouldnt have been able to compete in the following season
I like the way you simplify things

STV News explains it a bit better.
UEFA rules state clubs applying to play in Europe should have "no payables overdue" to tax authorities, but do allow applications to progress if amounts are in dispute.
Rangers said at the time of their application in 2011 they had no overdue payables but that they were in dispute with HMRC over their liability from a Discounted Option Scheme, known as "the Wee Tax Case", which was in use from 2000 to 2002.
However, in court testimony given during the Craig Whyte trial, Rangers and Murray Group directors stated the club knew the tax bill was overdue in November 2010, months before their UEFA licence application.

We’ve already laid down and accepted it. If we get fined and don’t pay then they take it from payments due to us and can impose further sanctions. The time to challenge it was six years ago. Or even when King took over. There’s no point in taking over and waiting until there’s suddenly a problem with the 5WA and moaning about it.

I know what your saying and for the current board that ship has sailed but it actually hurts that we just lay down every time and happily take a kicking without ever responding in a way that would make us all proud!!

Apply to join as a new club, find another league willing to accept us - and hope FIFA grant dispensation to play outwith our national association’s borders or take it to Court of Arbitration for Sport

It could be really bad - worst case (fine of 5m, transfer ban, revoked membership) - but I don’t think it’ll be much more than a fine of £10k.
