I got a ticket at the last minute and watched the game from the Edmiston Road End which was a new experience for me. My mates lost shoes on the stairwell and I still have the front page of the Sunday People showing them on the running track after the match ended. After the match I remember the stop press news saying that there were six dead. I headed for the Bay Horse on West Nile street and got home at 7pm much to the relief of my Mother. I exited stairwell 13 on hundreds of occasions and crushing was a regular experience as the two sheds merged. Sadly, this was an accident that was waiting to happen. RIP those who perished that day.
