  1. 1973 my first cup final and my first old firm game and I remember being at the pictures a wee while later and this was the newsreel they showed in between the two movies, you certainly found out who was who in that picture house that night, the cheers told its own story
  2. Apart from Colin Stein for obvious reasons , Derek Parlane had a pretty decent debut aged 18 , goal against Bayern in the semi final of the cup winners cup 72
  3. There's a story about when Mike and Bernie winters played a theatre in Glasgow , one of them was on stage getting pelters for being crap when the other one came on and the shout was '" awe naw there's two of them "
  4. The pub you are talking about on broomloan road at the esso garage was the ibrox house
  5. Does the Rangers Accordian Band count ,
  6. At least the players won't be bothered with Thrush
  7. This one for me , my son was just born and this was his first strip
  8. it was originally known to us locals as the Big Rangers Club, way back in the seventies, run by the club , the supporters had the wee club, am not sure the reasons for it closing but possibly bad management or just lack of punters , my memory is not that great , it became morleys nightspot for a while owned by the guy who ran the miss world competitions , successfully for a wee while but again shut , then it was Baileys health club , a fitness centre that had bar and snooker facilities, then it became the Edmiston club back under the control of the club, but like every venture there it had its great times but sadly closed too , my own opinion now would be that although I would love the club to open as a bar of some description again I think there are too many bars/clubs in the area struggling just to keep going , personally I had many great nights in every version of this building
  9. I was at primary school across the road from ibrox in the late sixties, i saw a car being mobbed by some of the guys from school so I handed my book in and when it came back had Alex McDonald , Sandy Jardine , and a name I didn't have a clue about ,but my old man soon put me right ,it was Lex McLean, I didn't have a clue at that time who he was , but am sure a few of the old timers on here would know,
  10. This was the job that Durrant originally came to us to do , McLeish brought him from Kilmarnock after seeing him doing a good job with their youths
  11. Blue star Club is still very much on the go and is in Lorne St which would place in in Plantation
  12. hey am only trying to educate some fans on a few wee facts before they go through life with a distorted view off players contributions to our club, every day is a school day
  13. You do know that Durrant played a very active part in our success after he returned from injury and then played successfully for Kilmarnock after leaving us, when he earned more scotland caps before joining kilmarnocks youth set up which prompted alex McLeish to bring him to ibrox to join our youth set up , and Paul le guen kept him as part of his youth set up , before Walter smith returned ,and also kept him, so I don't get where you think that Ian Durrant has been living off his injury for years at rangers ,criticise his coaching right now by all means if you feel that way but don't try to play down the very active role he played in our clubs past in the manner you have , I don't think for one minute that Durrant came to us through a sympathy vote, like I said disagree about our training now if you wish but this constant bringing down our past employees doesn't suit my idea of being a fan
  14. It may well be a demotion for Ian Durrant but it's a return to the job he originally came to rangers to do under McLeish, , he certainly looks out of the firing line now , management teams go but youth coaches tend to be kept on
  15. What's your problem more like , and I am not sticking up for mediocrity and below , the truth is you don't know what their input is , you don't know anything other than criticising Ex Rangers player that doesn't fit into your wee world , tell you what you and your other like minded fans I would like to be in the trenches with you , I have been there through crap times many many crap times but never turn on our own , might not rate them but never turn on them , but then again they are destroying your club , the rest of us will still have the club and we will still show the proper regard for our ex players , you are a right wee precious bunch
  16. Durrant was brought to Ibrox by McLeish after having a reasonably successful time as youth coach at Kilmarnock under Jim Jeffries, he was working with the youths at Ibrox and also remained on the staff when Paul le Guen took over , part of his duties for le guen was looking at potential signing targets and having a look at our European opponents , which continued under Walter Smith having put together dossiers for Walter on some of our Champions league opponents including Barcelona ,which didn't really turn out too bad for us , when folk on here are asking what Durrant brings or can bring and say it's just a job for the boys , the old Rangers boys network , well le guen obviously though enough of him to trust his opinion as Papac was one of the players looked at and he didn't turn out too shabby a player for us , so it's easy to criticise but there may be more the the guy than just being there to be called a stooge, etc
