  1. Not directed at me Albear, but ....... Could it be that Durrant is now in his rightful position, and MW has recognised that youth development suits him better, and he is of more value to the Club in this position? Hence the reason ID is still with us. Let's face it, he added nothing to the first team squad when under AM. Another good decision by W&W to add value to the Club ......... very possibly ...... right? PS; Just saw post 281.
  2. The big difference being that W&W (or possibly any other management team) will never ever be allowed the amount of time (since Maribor) that AM was afforded in the position. A few people seem to disregard the amount of time and support AM received at first after going to the lower divisions (± 4 seasons), but it got beyond the pale when disaster after disaster occurred, and to deny this is the true hypocrisy. At the moment we have success in almost all areas of the footballing side, and until it gets to the stage it was with AM, we will continue to support W&W, as that is what we do, until they can take us no further, and it is then time for a major change. Right now that scenario, if ever, is not on the horizon for a good few seasons yet, and hopefully will not be the case, and as long as the "boys" they bring in are qualified to do the "jobs" they are employed to do, and produce the desired results, we really have no need to compare either, as the difference is like chalk and cheese for all to see.
  3. As per usual, both good at putting over the positive attitude that is prevalent at the Club at this time. Still would like to know what the relevance to the English championship and the manager situation down there has to do with us, but some dick questions are not far from the lips of some of the press up here, so I suppose it's to be expected.
  4. Aye, as long as it's not a left hand drive trolley.
  5. Just had to bump this one, as it speaks for us all ...... wherever we live.
  6. Agreed Bud, I wonder what took them so long to confirm his status as a legend and induct him into the national hall of fame, Great to see it happening though, and he was classed as a part timer, so this accolade is well long overdue, typical SFA.
  7. Correct D'art, and it is indeed Matthew Benham whom we owe in part a debt of gratitude to for the rebuilding of our football system, resulting in the movement of these qualified tried and tested professionals now joining our Club. So far from being a "jobs for the boys" set up, which was not a successful model, the two scenarios cannot be reasonably compared. The future is being built at the Club now, and the inclusions are all part of the plans being introduced that will hopefully pay dividends, time will tell, but it certainly beats the alternative.
  8. Very sad to hear about Dingy passing away, very talented player and his patter was not too bad as well. Condolences to his family and friends, another true blue who loved The Rangers, and made no bones about letting people know we were always in his heart.
  9. By far too clever for the SFA to comprehend mate, even though it would be the best solution, levelheadedness is not a commonplace attribute at Hampden, since the famine dodgers took over.
  10. Exactly ....... but Rangers Hospitality cleverly circumvented the situation to everyones satisfaction. They've got the measure of you sir, and I can see more of this type of treatment being meted out to you in the future, and quite rightly so. You deserve all they throw at you, and I hope this will be a lesson to you ........... Rangers Hospitality Rules OK.
  11. I have no doubts about that mate, but with your reputation as an avid speculator, and having an instinct second only to a bloodhound, for a good bargain, i assumed you were involved in the glorious outcome. The plus part in your post leads me to think you are slightly playing down your involvement in the outcome, as I have no doubt your reputation precedes you, and RH were wise to prepare an alternative arrangement. In my defence I did thank them also, and think it was a marvellous gesture on behalf of the Club, but ....... in the words of that olden but golden song ......if not for you ....... etc. I rest my case your honour.
  12. Well done RH. With kind words from yourself of course, moving negotiations in the desired direction.
  13. As long as it's Warburton's we'll be alright mate ........ unless it's toasted.
  14. One of the biggest reasons why a talent gets lost, is the people around him who blow him up, then drop him when he doesn't reach "their" inflated aspirations. The player then starts to lose confidence in his abilities and loses direction and ambition. The talent is still there, but needs to be coaxed out, allowing the confidence to return. Hopefully this can be done with this player, and we can benefit from it. W&W seem to have the insight for this type of player, as seen in Tavernier, Waghorn and to a degree young McKay, and seem to bring the best out in them, and dare I say Law, Wallace and Shiels are benefiting also from their positive approach. Hopefully this becomes something we are renowned for with "forgotten" talent, and we can bring this type of player and future ones into the team to prove this type of coaching ethic is the winning formula. We won't have 100% success obviously, but at this time we seem to be doing pretty well ......... and the old saying ....... "If it's not broken don't fix it" ....... comes to mind.
  15. The "Players" that W&W are bringing onboard are all looking as good as the team on the park, and once we have both "Teams" working together, the future will be secured for The Rangers to go from success to success. All this will happen only after we get out of Administration of course ...........
  16. Fair enough mate, in all honesty I tend to actually agree with your post, as most players who did come back, even Slim Jim and Richard Gough, never reached their previous heights. It may have been unfair to use Colin Stein as an example, as he was most probably the exception to the rule, but what an exception, and in the game I mentioned he became a God to all Rangers supporters who witnessed that goal, and that is the legacy he has left for all future fans to revel in for years to come, as it broke the hearts of the scum fans who were on the brink of 10 in a row, and he was the man who broke the cycle and put us back in the driving seat.
  17. Well said Al, totally agree with your summation as it is fair and very accurate.
  18. That more than anything is the unfortunate situation he finds himself in mate. Injuries, even bad ones like cruciates etc., in this day and age can be cured pretty well, and a player can bounce back (the traitor naishite being a perfect example ..... twice) and have a good career, but in Lewis's case his general health is the issue. The virus that weakened his heart regardless of his age is not to be taken lightly, I just hope he is one of the lucky ones, like Asa Hartford who had a very good career despite heart concerns.
  19. Yep, it's all you can expect from one with a diseased mind. One thing about our demise will be that it makes his daughter stop crying, as we were the single most reason for her being unhappy, what with all our singing about the Billy Boys and all that, especially as "Fenian" was the name of her favourite doll.
  20. I take it you were against Colin Stein coming back from Coventry then, and heading in the winner at Easter road, stopping the tottie howkers from getting 10 in a row.
  21. Agreed ..... that was the telling part for me also, that he could hold his own at that level, and more would have come with the right management team. Unfortunately for Lewis that he is not here to benefit from the new team in power.
