  1. Still cannot believe Walter believed AM could be a fit and proper manager of the club. Surely has to be one of the few occasions Walter made a serious misjudgement as a manager. That is of course if it actually was his decision
  2. Difference in the 2 halves was not down to tactics etc. It was all down to their keeper as he was one seriously evil looking bastard ( family tree Escobar maybe?) and our forwards were scared to go near him. Second half they change keepers and we run riot.
  3. Cheers Jules, most enjoyable especially the well worked goal. Also thought the backheel to stop an og. was class.
  4. Daily Rhebel reporting David Murrays office is being re-modelled (source ill-phil). He's never wrong.
  5. The other advantage in playing Jordan was he brought his striking partner (Dalglish) into the game more. As others have said DJ maybe had more skill but Jordans aggression, willingness and experience of different leagues made him the perfect partner for Dalglish. And yes Mcleod was a pompous twat until it all went wrong.
  6. I started going to games in the early 60's and lego would be regarded as one of the biggest tarts on the pitch back then. It's all just posturing from him as the cheap shots, niggly tackles etc are all pathetic compared to then. When I think of a hard man I think of Dave Mackay, Tommy Smith, Norman Hunter, our own JG etc. Guys that would go full on into a tackle without fear, a player that would stick up for, and protect his teamates without fear for himself. Lego is a sleekit, posturing, fanny of a player as kicking someone in the head when they are down or posturing with lots of team mates around is not a hard man. Some people get mixed up between a dirty player and a hard player, no more so than in the case of lego.
  7. But how many times did Durrant get slapped about the head and sent on his way to the dugout with fresh instructions. Poor ian probably covered more miles doing that than he did in a game. Great video on here about that.
  8. Was watching an old game on BT sport last night. The famous Man U/Arsenal game where the gunners were 2 up with just a few minutes left. Man U scored twice to draw level only for arsenal to score in injury time and win. Point is Jimmy Nic was playing for Man Utd and what a good player he was, plus a bit of steel. Much better than I remember when he played with us.
  9. Needs a footballing CB to play alongside him. A bit like Basil Boli was better with Gough or McClaren beside him..
  10. One of my favourite football games of all time. Remember that ugly french prick Stephane Mahe - the gift that just kept on giving that day with his Lego Brown puffed out chest, one second in an utter rage, next greeting his eyes out like a big lassie then back into the rage again. Leaving the pitch at the red, coming back a minute later, leaving again. It was like the teletubbies on acid - fantastic!!! Must look out the meltdown video for a giggle again.
  11. Have to hold my hands up here and admit if I was critical of the board at the time, ( not that I ever am) they got it 100% correct with their handling of the Warburton resign/didn't resign, sacked/not sacked farce. Was shocked by his behaviour at the time as I thought he was better than that.
  12. Hope so but not always the case as you only have to look at the appointment of David Weir under Warburton. Our defence had more holes than a slappers lace g-string.
  13. No matter the subject you always seem to manage to blame MA or SD. If you can't blame them for something then you criticise them but I have finally worked out why - you must have a share in JD Sports.
  14. Pretty much unfeasible to compare the first 20 games etc as having any significant meaning. Each manager lives on the previous managers teams and tactics until they can impose their own ethos. Look at AM when he took over from Walter. The team were doing well in the first couple of months until injuries, suspensions etc meant he had to change the team, the setup and the tactics. This led to a downturn in the team results and performances as AM did not have the experience or knowledge of how to adapt or to turn it round. Unfortunately both Pedro and Murty took over teams that were struggling so did not have the luxury of a 'free ride' of a well drilled, well coached, successful team.
  15. Still, at least our club does not fuck kids or cover it up.
  16. You would think they should play in grey and green.
  17. Maybe not dishonest but I do believe they have been influenced by the media and other clubs eg scum and TLB when it comes to officiating us. All refs admit they can be pressured by supporters screaming for a decision etc so why not by this insiduous campaign against us the last 5 years. You have to worry when you know the scum and media will immediately complain loudly and vociferously about a contentious decision against them whereas we will say nothing. If in doubt which way will a ref lean??
  18. Fantastic knock by Cook but wonder if the series lost by this point changed his attitude and freed him up. Hopefully England come out firing on all cylinders tonight. BTW great knock by Broad as well which combined with his 1st innings bowling might inspire him tonight.
  19. Actually think they are the same as our board when it comes to fans - don't really care about them apart from utilising pr to milk every last penny. Their board are however streets ahead of us when it comes to running their club like a business. Transfers, season tickets, merchandise, etc are all maximised which bugs the tits off of me as all you need to do is appoint a top notch team for finance, promotion and merchandising on both the team and business side. Pay top dollar as that is the one area that will pay for itself many times over as can be seen just now. Still why should we worry as we have PM and SR. The dream team - or is that nightmare.
  20. It doesn't matter if a player like Hurlock or Souness got sent off at the beginning as other teams knew after that not to try it or retribution would take place. Thats why having two enforcers is always best, just fantastic if one can pass like Souness though. Fot those who saw JG play at a time when players were tough, they'll remember no-one took the piss or JG would take action. I remember Henderson running to JG for protection when an opposition player was going to give him a kicking. Think it was the Slavia Sofia semi-final in 67, but memory not too hot sometimes.
