  1. This will never happen. But a joint English/Scottish Cup competition of some kind could be very interesting.
  2. Takes delusion to an entirely new level, so at least that’s something they do well.
  3. This is spot on. We’re not being read in the sense we’re easy to combat, it’s just that other teams now know full well that we are an aggressive attack minded team with skilful well-trained players who don’t give up. They have to decide how they deal with that and most will go ultra defensive which is their right. We should have had this style for years but there’s no point dwelling on the mistakes of the past as we now have a proper managerial team in place. Anyway, whether teams are reading us or not they’re not having much success.
  4. Voting two because of the key words ‘in the future’ as already the Ally years are starting to seem a long time ago, which is a tribute to the new management team. And he didn’t want to be a terrible manager - which he was - he was just completely unfitted for the role. I’ve worked at various times with senior managers who were equally unsuited to their job, and not one has ever been able to accept that fact and move on - I think it’s against human nature to do that, it’s always someone else’s fault.
  5. You’re right that we should stay calm, but for me it’s telling the Rovers manager said after the game words to the effect that his team won’t be judged against how they play against Rangers, only against teams at the same level as them, and that it’s obvious Rangers are in the wrong division. Last season, sadly, in terms of quality on the pitch we belonged in that division - now it is palpably obvious we do not, and that every team that plays us is scared not just of being beaten but of being humiliated.
  6. I think the OP is right. I’m struggling to think whether any team has changed so much in so short a period of time, not just in results but the whole ethos. Of course you can bring in a few players who will improve certain areas and bring improvements, but we have gone from night to day in the whole way we play and conduct ourselves on and off the pitch, and at minimal cost. Just think back six months and compare to now and it is like a parallel universe.
  7. ‘Cunning as a fox who has just been appointed Professor of Cunning at Oxford University’.
  8. In real life we got a great result against QotS. On here its all turned a bit ‘burn the witch’ on a couple of threads for some reason...
  9. Sickening, absolutely sickening. And then to be so lacking in pride and self-respect to actually be trying to justify his unprofessionalism in a national newspaper. If there was one thing Ally was (as well as a lot of things he wasn’t, mainly a manager) it was approachable. If he’d spoken to Ally and told him he’d got a good prospect coming through what did he think Ally would have done? Mind you, I would have thought Ally would have wanted to have gone and looked at some of the youth games himself to form his own opinions.
  10. Every other team must be in a cold sweat at the thought of playing us now. It’s not just getting beaten, it’s the fear of being totally humiliated - bit of a difference a couple of months makes.
  11. We will improve the English signings under MW and that in turn will lead to more bright prospects from down south coming to us year on year, and when we do qualify for CL some, no doubt, will want to stay. From a stale overpaid ex-SPFL journeyman team to an exciting (admittedly sometimes slightly scary) attack minded outfit in a couple of months is one of the biggest turnarounds in football I’ve ever seen.
  12. The win’s the thing, we can play better and Hibs can’t. Every team in the world can have an off day but if you win on your off day there’s not much more you can ask.
  13. Great site. Suggestions are pre-moderation for new members, and barring them from posting topics until they’ve been posting for a few months or so, to do away with newbies making fools of themselves/trolls winding people up. A running scoreline on match threads so people on mobiles don’t have to scroll through pages of posts to find the score, and a ban on multiple posts of very lengthy articles so you don’t have to scroll through a couple of feet of text to read the latest comment.
  14. Good article in today’s Guardian on this - the transformation is getting a lot of attention. http://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/aug/19/gedion-zelalem-usa-soccer-star-arsenal-rangers
  15. "Warburton's English mercenaries crush proud Hibs. SFA calls for investigation into abuse of cross-border loan deals undermining Scottish football."
  16. Very big clubs and management teams down south are looking at Rangers and MW and obviously liking what they see - the turnaround has been beyond belief.
  17. As MW said, we will be promoted, and that’s because we now have a very good manager and assistant, who are able to spot and get good players and train them so they’re fit for the whole match. A cup would be a very big bonus but a target of 100% wins is completely stupid, no club in the world would set that as a target, you’d only set something like that for a rival club that you want to fail.
  18. And if he was an Alloa player "Nathan Oduwa set the stadium alight, showing skills the pedestrian Gers could only dream of having in their squad”. As a country, we used to be so much better than this.
  19. All the rumours are about Leeds away - that would be a cracking day. Hope it’s true.
  20. A complete breath of fresh air, and when you think he took a 90% pay cut to move from his City of London job into football management in the first place, you realise it's not about the money for him. About time we had someone like this, and it looks like he already ‘gets’ Rangers. With Weir alongside, a real mood lifter.
  21. No-one disputes what he was as a player. We know as a manager he was a complete dud, but that obviously wasn’t something he wanted to be. As a player legend there’s a place back for him, even if that’s only as a Club rep doing some hospitality-Club ambassador role. We’re not the only Club in the world that thought a great player could make a great manager and got it wrong.
  22. Just listening to the man’s interview shows he’s well bred - we should just roll with him.
  23. Can’t understand how it’s gone so wrong - we seem to have a right’un for a change. Seriously the best move we’ve made for years.
  24. He maybe should be recalled as a meeter and greeter, a club ambassador maybe doing some talks to young supporters and showing them around Ibrox and also meeting fans. We may at least get some money back from that, more than just paying out for the gardening leave. Assistant manager would only be in a parallel universe - a great player but he couldn’t manage his way out of a paper bag.
