  1. Considering Warburton has said January is a more difficult time to bring in players than the summer I expect his signings to be of less 'quality' than we've seen him sign so far
  2. Warburton gave us a taste of exciting football and restructured the playing side through all levels at the club. It was new and fresh and exhilarating. Then teams started closing us down quickly. The fitness levels of the top league teams was underestimated and there's no plan B. We have hope that the manager can turn it around once more. Under Ally there was never any hope we would try to play attractive football and the results were as bad as the football on show.
  3. But Gazza's 15 min of genius could win us games. If MOH or any of the others could produce nothing but 15 mins of something that would win a match I'd be happy.
  4. Nope I'm not saying that. I'm saying after May 73 until May 74 (ie the 73-74 season) when we didn't win anything (finished 3rd in the league) and the tims kept winning the league which we hadn't won in a long long time there would have been a lot of disgruntled bears. But the following season (74-75) we won the league.
  5. Do you think we all sat back and said nothing while winning sod all the following season? I doubt it very much especially as the tims won the double and got to the league cup final. Things didn't look too good in 73-74
  6. Don't think anyone is comparing the two scenarios. I just dressed it up to show that there can be a good outcome when all seems lost and maybe patience is a virtue we should be aware of. All MW has to do is swallow his pride and get the finger out.
  7. Maybe but during that game we played some great football. There were reports down south on TV and radio about how delightful our play was. They must be as bamboozled as us with regards to what the fuck has happened
  8. It is also said there is a fine line between sanity and madness. Continuing with a strategy that plainly is not working in spite of everyone around you seeing the problem suggests that one toe might just be creeping on to the wrong side.
  9. This is the heart of the problem. Management and board settling for 2nd best inevitably feeds down to the players. There's no fear factor for too many who are guaranteed their places in the starting 11. We should be aiming for the top with no excuses.
  10. I'm sure when Jock Wallace became our manager he said it would take 3 years to build a team capable of winning the league and maintaining a challenge every year onwards. In his 1st season Jock brought us the Scottish Cup. In the following 73-74 season I quote 'the start to the league championship was poor, no goals in the first four home games saw just seven points from the first six league matches. This early blip meant Rangers were always chasing the title and eventually finished third' The rest is history with 2 trebles in 3 seasons. There's no way I am drawing comparisons between Wallace and Warburton but is MW capable of building a strong side with his 3 year plan.
  11. Early on last night a ball into our box was cleared. It went high in the air and was coming down to a st johnstone player about 20 yards out. We should be reading the play and close the player down but we allow the ball to drop and for him to control it. We just don't seem to be organised or sharp enough.
  12. This. Opposition teams are pressing us and closing down the defence when the keeper is looking to pass the ball to them. We don't have the players to confidently control and pass the ball in a tight situation at the back. Nothing wrong with a long kick sometimes as long as it isn't an aimless punt, but the keeper needs to kick it well (a few kick outs aimed for MOH last night were all won by a st johnstone player).
  13. Outsiders looking in will see him as doing a good job. Just as you say he got us promoted, to a cup final and sitting in the top half of the league. On paper to those with no attachment to the club he might be seen as successful.
  14. It fuckin is! If the players he signed are unable to play the formation he wants then either he gets new players or changes tactics. He isn't getting new players (and I am far from impressed with many of the signing made) so he needs to get rid of the stubbornness, change this 4-3-3 and get results.
  15. The retain possession, high tempo passing, high scoring game deserted us after beating the scum. Many of his signings were poor judgement and are unable to compete against the top league sides. He is unable to tactically change the direction of a game. Team selection and substitutions are both predictable and baffling game after game. The manager we loved so much is not the same now. He thinks there is no gap between us and them. He has to change team selection and tactics or suffer the consequences. I want him to stay and turn things around but if he cannot get results then he is not the man for us.
  16. Could feel the crowd getting restless last night with the going nowhere passing game. Keeper to defence to midfield to forwards (sometimes) to midfield to defence to keeper and start all over again. We get about 20/30 yards from the opposition goal then turn back again. Possession doesn't win games. Goals do
  17. Even if he gets a few million to spend would he buy experienced players coming the end of their careers or get some younger signings that can fit into the team for years to come, but who are tried and tested at a high level. I've had enough of these 'living on their past reputation' signings.
  18. Won 4/10 with no idea what our best starting 11 are. Trying to play defenders as midfield or forwards. A defence ready to crack at any moment. Unable to change the direction of a game with a tactical substitution. Still a shambles after 10 games. The future isn't exactly bright.
  19. It's the same as the 'if we didn't make defensive mistakes' argument. We can't solidly defend for 90 mins and we find it difficult to score goals. We're mid table because we perform like a mid table side.
  20. He sounds really disappointed with the 2nd half. Maybe is beginning to realise his job is on the line. Someone showed me an online thingy that shows we have only won 18 out of 42 points since we beat the scum in the SF. If true then MW better get his house in order fast.
  21. A waste of a substitution. Why the fuck does MW think Miller can play left wing. He did it at the piggery and hasn't learned from it.
  22. The refs are shite but he didon't cost us the game. We did that ourselves by not being good enough.
  23. Its not good enough but it was always going to be a hard slog the 1st season back up unless we signed good enough players. Even allowing for new signings in Jan we are stuck with a few that should never have been signed in the first place. There is no true ambition at the club just now. It's even spreading to some fans who are creaming themselves over the fight for 2nd place. It's not fuckin good enough.
  24. Y'know this disappointment or whatever over 2nd place is really doing my nut in. I want a winning team on the pitch. No way will I be celebrating getting 2nd place. It might be better than 3rd; 4th etc but so fuck. I want to see a settled side that looks like winning every game. If not 1st I don't care where we finish but I do expect to have optimism for the near future. Get it sorted in January and give us back some hope that we will be challenging for every trophy soon.
