Kris Boyd is officially . . .

BLUEDIGNITY

Recommended Posts

You know what, I could almost understand defending Boyd's place in the team a couple of months ago, but now? Seriously?

...seriously?

And don't bring up the Boyd = scapegoat bullshit. I'm not blaming him exclusively for the bad results recently, but if he can get praise for the good results (like he undeservedly does) then he can fucking take the criticism as well. Today he was actually worse than playing with a man down.

I believe that kris boyd is a natural goalscorer, far from a complete striker but still a player that will always get goals. I also believe that if he has attitude and fitness problems then there will come a point in his career when a coach shows him the light and he will benefit. I'm not sure that is going to be walter smith though!

As to the manager leaving him out of the big games, I see that as the team being too weak to carry a player that fills only one role - goalscorer - unlike miller, lafferty and novo runners who can get about, tackle back, cross in might score now and again.

When we lost 1-0 to sellik with boyd playing he got himself in a goalscoring position and hit the target, unfortunatley not scoring on that occasion. Not many rangers players can say that since parkhead at the start of the season.

He could well be gone in the summer.

Yes your quite correct that is a possibility.

Well if that happens he ain't going to become our highest ever goalscorer is he?

Yes your quite correct BUT if he stays here for another 5-10 years he may just become our highest ever goalscorer.

and we'll have our least ever trophy haul.

SAF noted Horseface Nistlerooy was top scorer 4 seasons on the trot but they only managed one title and it was due to the hoss not being a team player.

Arrogant, petulant, ignorant, overweight, overpaid, unfit, greedy, fat, double-chinned waste of space.

His performance yesterday was an absolute disgrace. The guy thinks the world owes him something.

Hunt him.

He couldn't be arsed jumping for headers yesterday and I can't beleive he lasted 90mins. He is so lazy and again highlights if he doesn't score he offers zero to the team. Big Lafferty was doing well yesterday and Boyd would do well to take a leaf out of his book and chase balls down, win flick ons etc.

There were 10 other useless arses out there today, not least our defense, yet Boyd gets it again. He's well short goal scoring form recently (not suprisingly since they tried to force him out the door in January) and should perhaps be dropped from the team. The score line we had today was a result of Walters signing policy in the summer. He wasted good money (9 mil approx) on the likes of Miller, Lafferty, Edu and Velika. Only one of which has featured on a regular basis for us this season and has left us without adequate cover at the back not to mention no natural wingbacks and no quality wingers. Walter consistently plays at least 4 players out of position every single match, he doesnt alter his negative tactics when required to do so and only makes subs at around the 70 min mark. The main guy you should be venting your frustration at is Walter not Boyd. Yes he's playing pish right now, yes he doesn't run around the pitch like a Kenny Miller type player, but he is a damn good goal scorer. Not even wanting to have that option in the squad is ridiculous. Remember the guy cost us 400k not 2 Mil (like Kenny Miller) not 3.5 Mil (like Lafferty) or even 12 Mil (like Flo). If Boyd does go in the summer for 3-4 mil that money is unlikely to be spent on the squad and even if it is Walter would waste it on more pish signings. The guy might be able to pick up a decent defender from time to time but when it comes down to a striker he doesnt seem to know his arse from his elbow (mind you it doesn't help that we have a non-existent scouting system). The team stats for this season:

With Boyd Starting

Played 26

Won 19 (73.1%)

Drew 4 (15.4%)

Lost 3 (11.5%)

Without Boyd Starting\Playing

Played 7

Won 2 (28.6%)

Drew 3 (42.9%)

Lost 2 (28.6%)

And which were the games that Boyd never started?

Actually forgot to include the game last sunday also:

He couldn't be arsed jumping for headers yesterday and I can't beleive he lasted 90mins. He is so lazy and again highlights if he doesn't score he offers zero to the team. Big Lafferty was doing well yesterday and Boyd would do well to take a leaf out of his book and chase balls down, win flick ons etc.

I've seen Boyd do all these things this season, and score goals too. The fact that he is not doing it consistently is something that can be sorted out by coaching. It appears that this is either too difficult for our coaching staff to achieve, or that they don't think it represents good time investment as their minds are made up to sell him. Boyd is no lost cause, his attitude problems stem from having the natural ability to score lots of goals - lets face it, the most important thing in football - something he has probably done since a child and therfore has probably had praise heaped on him for years for that. Now he is at a point where Burley and Smith have rejected him yet he still tops the goalscoring charts. If I was top scorer in the SPL and was felt rated below perrenial underachiever Miller, unproven Lafferty, Incapable Velicka and open goal misser Iwelumo etc I would certainly be scratching my head about it!

Point taken by why should the coaching staff have to prompt a professional football player to basically put a bit of effort into his game? If you can't pass a ball 10 yards to your team mate and can't win headers over a man 3 inches shorter than you, then you shouldn't be playing in my opinion.

I appreaciate the goals that he has scored for us but his attitude fucking stinks. It was acceptable to stand about when he was at Kilmarnock, but he is a Rangers player and has to show a bit of grit and determination to merit getting a game every week.

Hasn't scored at the phiggery, phittodrie or tynecastle, nuff said ! :sherlock:

He scored at Tyncastle this season.

701 posts, and that's by far the most ridiculous one you've made. Boyd had as much claim to that goal as I did, and I was in the stand doh

Officially he was actually given the goal because of the referee's report so i think it goes on his record.

IIRC the goal was awarded to him during the game, but then attributed to an own goal afterwards. I'm sure it was added to his season stats then taken off.

Either way I have to say I'm impressed with your objectivity. I always had you down for one of the mental Boyd defenders (a al FlippinEck) but clearly I was wrong.

away and get off your highhorse you prick, Boyd played crap yesterday, bet you couldnt wait to come on here and act all high and mighty

Exactly what I have been arguing all this time, yet some people would think I thought he was amazing yesterday just because it suits them to say so he neither does it enough or well enough. You look back at the first few months of the season up until the turn of the year, he had been involved in a lot of goals and scoring goals, for whatever reason since the birmingham offer he just hasnt hit it off, we have no better strikers to play or walter doesnt make the changes, but that must be boyds fault too

I agree, it's a sad state of affairs that lots of players will coast along quite happily and maybe lifes just not fair in that respect, but the point I'm trying to make is Boyd is not an incompetent player, just not in the conditions he needs to play his best. Think about the abuse Robbie Keane got at Liverpool, or even Chris Sutton at Chelsea.....once those guys find their comfort zone they're like different players effort wise!

aye, but fans are rightly angry about the current state of affairs, and I think Boyd is the new scapegoat.!

People have a right to be angry with aspects of his play yesterday but some of the abuse would go as far as to make him out to be a scapegoat, it was so bloody obvious we werent going to score with boyd left on the park yesterday after novo decided to shoot and not pass to him and we were crying out for miller to come on, but walter doesnt do it

lafferty runs about can hold a ball up and wins it in the air

boyd cant move has a backside the side of a house

what summed up boyd for me yesterday was in the second half nobody within 10 yards of him

ball coming out of the air and he could nt control it basic football a 5 year old could do
