Weir and his Gers team-mates crashed to a 1-0 defeat to Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Saturday to topple off the top of the Premier League. The defeat came just six days after Celtic succumbed to a 2-1 loss to Dundee United at Tannadice. Glasgow's big two are narrowly ahead of both Hibs and United in the league table after the first round of fixtures and many fans and pundits feel they could be caught. And former Falkirk and Hearts defender Weir, above, believes another top-flight team is more than capable of capturing the silverware during this campaign. He said: "We hadn't been beaten this season until Saturday, but we hadn't been playing well enough. We had been getting away with it. "We enjoyed the majority of possession at Pittodrie and had the best scoring chances, but we didn't deserve to win the game. We got what we deserved. "I think that if we and Celtic carry on the way we have been going, then another team is capable of winning the league this season. "We need to put a run of winning games together, but we haven't done that for a wee while. Dropping points, either as a result of losing or drawing games, isn't good enough when you are at Rangers or Celtic. We have to do better." Meanwhile, Weir has admitted he has questioned his ability to play on at the highest level for Rangers in the wake of his side's defeat to Aberdeen at the weekend. The 39-year-old has defied expectations to continue playing for Rangers and Scotland for so long, but he confessed he is unsure how long he can continue to do that. He said: "On days like that, you start to question yourself. That is the nature of the game, you have to question yourself. I only take the games on a weekly basis. "That is how I have operated and I have done that for a while now. Honestly, they shouldn't be scared of us or Them; our players can't rely on a club's reputation to win games for them - they actually have to go out and work at it. Clubs like DU have sussed it long ago and can smell blood; I just hope our squad can raise itself for the challenge (big ask for some of our players, though). They play better football,they attack with pace and they have belief......all they need to do is bring in a couple of good loan signings in january(Yogi is an expert at those) and they could pip us easily,especially if we lose a few players in january... The majority could see it. I dont know about forseeable future, but, you have to see that the teams beneath us play good football at times, far more than we do, certainly more than the tims. I would think Utd are going to be close, they look pretty steady, and, we dont fill me with confidence, although I think we will take the title. Riordan, Zemmama, Stokes, Miller, Gomis, Bauben, WEBSTER, Conway_They certainly cannot attract players who are good enough & all of the players mentioned here plus others are with us or have been spoken by US FANS as potential signings for Rangers on this board. We can however attract players of the calibre of Lee McCulloch, Kirk Broadfoot, Kyle lafferty, David "touche turtle" Weir, Kenny"misser" Miller. Your missing the point, For a start there isnt a player in our team who wouldnt walk into any other SPL team outwith Celtic. What a nightmare, how can we possibly recover from that? First league defeat of the season ffs. Old Davie says we've just been getting away with it, and he's right, but all that shows is that we don't even need to be playing well and we can still stay ahead of everyone, barring Celtic, with the greatest of ease.
