Broxi 11,562
Rangers face the ominous task of stopping the Spanish archers of Valencia in their tracks at Ibrox tomorrow night. The La Liga cracks had draped their cape on the summit of La Liga – only to have it unceremoniously torn down by Barcelona at the weekend.Their pedigree, though, marks them out as favourites to qualify from Group C along with Manchester United – leaving Rangers and Bursaspor to fight it out for the third spot parachute into the Europa League. But the Light Blues have been backed to pull off an upset by one man who has seen his fair share of Valencia –Sky Sports La Liga expert Terry Gibson.Unai Emery’s side arrive in Glasgow trailing the Gers by a point and, if Walter Smith’s men can repeat the heroics of their victory over Bursaspor three weeks ago, it would put them in pole position to qualify for the last 16 for the second time in their history.A summer of transfers saw huge changes in the Valencia line-up. On the surface, the multi- million pound deals that saw Spain World Cup heroes David Villa and David Silva swap the Mestalla for the Nou Camp and City of Manchester Stadium respectively, appeared to have weakened their attacking options. But with fresh talent already in place, Rangers will have to be at their best if they are to make it three successive clean sheets in Europe’s premier club competition.Walter Smith is expected to line his troops up in familiar 4-5-1 formation as they prepare to do battle with the Spanish superstars. But after seeing Valencia sweep aside Bursaspor and stake their claim as potential title challengers, Gibson reckons the Scottish champions could shock the silky Senors. mrmytto 220
Of course we can do it, if our players have the will, drive and determination, along with a fantastic atmosphere to spur them on, even when they are running low on steam, the energy from the crowd will carry them.
