Our Left Wing Obsession

Ace

Recommended Posts

We now have Wylde, Bedoya & McKay who can all play in that position yet there appears to be an obsession to bring in another player to cover that position.

We don't seem to have the same obsession with our right wing, where we have Naismith, Davis & Ortiz who play there.

Can someone please explain why we seem focused on one position?

We haven't really had a quality left midfielder :sherlock: since Albertz imo, we've been crying out for one for ages. We always seem to play people out of position their as well.

Edit: Took out the winger part lolol, y'know what i meaannt.

Albertz wasn't a winger.

Also, why do commentators and pundits always refer to left footed players as having "A SWEET LEFT FOOT", etc? What is better about a left footed pass / cross than a right foot pass / cross?

Rarer

Probably because left footers are rare.

Not rare enough I may add.

If you're talking about "wingers", then Wylde is the only one from that lot you've named who is a winger.

Wyldes the only one who is really a winger, I'd like another player who can take a man on and hit the line and get a cross in, either left or right sided.

I think people continually say left because left midfield/wing has been a problem position, and they see Naismith as our preferred right option.

Because they are cliche spouting sub-par chumps typical of the British punditocracy who don't think about what they are saying.

All we really need now is a striker as I can see Mckay and Bedoya being used on the wing. They are versatile players which is exactly why we have signed them. Bedoya's last few games for Obrero were played in defensive midfield!

It's down to width for me. The only player in our whole team who brings any to the team is Wylde and that isn't enough. We need to have a better quality of service and Naismith has pretty much nailed down that RM position as his own.

Of course we have McKay & Bedoya who can play at LM, but only trusting Wylde is a big thing to do. Having someone in there who could guide and help Gregg with his play would only be a good thing, along with competition.

Maybe we are going to play 433, hence the amount of CM to LM or RM we have brought in. Still need a quality striker though. (tu)

We could see:

Mcgregor

Whittaker goian bocanegra wallace

Davis bedoya mckay

Naismith jelavic lafferty

We don't need a left winger, we need a left midfielder.

Who cares what their style of play is as long as it's effective!

If McKay plays out on the left and does well then job done. Then we've got Wylde as well as back up.

We most certainly need a distinguished striker and then a further injection of quality in whatever position McCoist feels most necessary.
