double standards

ive taken this from another forum just thought it was an intresting insight into how the scum are still getting away with murder .

In section G in the Wheatfield Stand (opposite the main stand), the section right next to the away fans. I have a few friends who are Jambos so went with them. Lower Section G is season ticket only, I had bought a ticket for F but was easily able to just walk into section g.

It was the most atmospheric and heated section of the Hearts support and it was clear that they hated Celtic - with Rule Brittania, Fathers Advice, One John Wilson, Glasgow Celtic Paedophiles etc getting chanted by most in the section.

However, what was noticeable was the way in which the police would focus on the Hearts support, yet ignore the Celtic support.

At Half Time, a coin was thrown from the Celtic support towards our section. 2 rows below me a boy, no older than 8/9 had been hit. He looked hurt and a first aid team had to assist him and take him away for further treatment, the Celtic fans were almost celebratory in this. Will this reach the newspapers tomorrow? You can answer that yourselves.

I went to the toilet and returned to my seat to see 2 more coins thrown towards our section, narrowly missing 2 of my friends. Absolutely raging, my pal asked a steward what they were going to do about it and was told 'if the Celtic fans were caught on camera they will be chucked out', I can't imagine anything will be done!

During the game you had the usual sea of insults from Celtic fans to Hearts fans and vice versa. The Celtic fans waved their tricolours and the Hearts fans had their Union Jacks out. Yet time and time again, the stewards were approaching Hearts supporters to calm down and to not antagonise the Celtic fans. We looked over. Where the Celtic fans being given similar treatment? No chance.

IRA and rebel songs were chanted time and time again ('oh ah up the ra', 'Boys of the old Brigade' etc). As these were being chanted, Hearts fans shouted at the police and stewards asking what they were going to do, nothing was the general response. One steward (clearly a hearts fans) even said she wished fans would be arrested but was powerless to do anything. So the Hearts supporters in the section began sing 'the famine is over, why don't you go home'. As 2 lines of this were chanted, a police officer marched over shouting at the section that this would not be tolerated and anyone who continued to chant this would be arrested. Was the same done to the Celtic supporters chanting IRA songs? I'll let you guess.

A boy may be 3 rows infront me pulled out a Union Jack flag. It had a red hand of Ulster on it. He seemed to be warned once about presenting it, and on showing it again had the flag taken off him and was thrown out. Again, you had Celtic fans waving tricolours, basque and other 'political' flags at the Hearts fans. Did the police ever bother to tell them to stop this? I'll let you guess.

Everytime Celtic scored you had fans jumping their barrier (the section next to the Hearts fans was closed to them, unlike us) and running towards the home fans. These fans, despite travelling quite a distance to antagonise the home fans, were merely escorted back to where they should be and left to get on with it.

Anyway, just thought I'd share my experience! My Jambo pals were absolutely outraged at the behaviour of the Celtic fans tonight and want us to win the league But I was quite concerned at the double standards on show by the police and stewards at the game. On the back of the stewards coats I noticed many had 'Celtic travelling stewards' on them. Yet when Celtic scored, they weren't interested in what the Celtic fans were doing, but were facing the Hearts supporters and then pointing out to other stewards anything that was being sung/chanted by the home fans!

I think this is a problem we, as a support, have to look at. it's all well and good putting this on the BD (although i see others are saying it shouldnt be), but really we have to highlight this to the correct authorities. its no good getting it off your chest here - in a place that can do nothing about it. what we need to do is ensure the correct people are hearing about it, make sure the papers cant ignore it. stop writing here and start writing to MPs.

i hope this can get sorted out, because i can see the subtle reporting that goes on in Scotland from over here. people can deny it, or claim paranoa, but the message is getting across. (one example that i saw before i joined up - somebody put an old firm match build up video link, and in it throughout the goals, there was a point where it showed the word RELIGION, then showed our fans, then POLITICS and showed the tarriers. may seem minor, but the message is being put out there to the rest of the UK)

mini-rant over. soapbox tucked away.

Doesnt it remind you of being at a Rangers match? Certainly echoes stories I have heard about how Rangers fans are policed/stewarded

Never had any hassle from stewards minus the odd being told to sit down and ave only realy missed a handful of games in the last 5 years. Seen a few folk ejected etc but folk seem to exaggerate this a lot.

I'd go as far as to say its fucking cowardly to just post it on a poxy forum. If something terrible has been done the. The person moaning about it should be taking it to the relevant authorities. Clearly this person hasn't cared all that much

Ibrox is the worst place for it. Enjoyed a nice evening of bigotry last season in the very section being described above. Pure hatred! :crabflute:
