*****The Official "lets all laugh at Liverpool" thread*****

What people (especially scousers) forget is that Liverppool are just another average EPL team and have been for getting on to a decade now. They had a great team from mid 70s to late 80s but had no great history before that and have not done great things since. They have a false belief they are a big team in England. Don't get me wrong they were the best in Europe for qa while but a 20 year window does not give you the right to think you should always be at the top. Eactly the same when you here the sheep talk about the fact that they deserve to be in the top 3 or 4 in SPL. Other than the ealry 80s under SAF they did nothing before that and little since.

Downing has been a WAY bigger failure than adam.

Ment to be bought to provide crosses and assists for carroll because of his high cross ratio.

Today in the EPL, 0 goals, 0 assists.

Also Rafa Benitez is clearly the best manager to have managed in the EPL bar Jose for years and it's no coincidence Liverpool have been guff since he left

The new signings take a lot of stick and rightly so. However the likes of Gerrard and especially Suarez get off far too lightly.

Suarez is having an average season, yet he still gets ridiculous hype and hardly criticised for his on field play.

The Merseyside derby (if you can call it a derby when the fans sit together?) was the first time since March 2011 that Liverpool won a league game that Gerrard started!

Suarez and Enrique apart the new singings have been big let downs ( I suppose you could argue Saurez is the same with his bans and crap goal to shot ratio).

  • Coates £7 million
  • Henderson £16 million
  • Downing £20 million
  • Adam £7.5 million
  • Carroll £35 million

There is £ 85.5 million spunked on the above which to me confirms Kenny is either senile or just a very, very poor manager.

Decent spells in the Spanish lower leagues, decent spell with Valencia, dismal spell with Liverpool followed with a horrific one at Inter.

Never understood the hype.

Like yourself not a big Benitez fan, although he did get Liverpool a few trophies which I doubt they will get again in a while (Champions League).

He started off well at Liverpool getting to the LC final and winning the CL while finishing 5th in the EPL (2005), the next season he done better getting them the FA CUP and finishing 3rd . His third season was his first without a trophy and got them to 3rd again while also getting to another final in the Champions League, 2008 (4th season) was his worst since he took over with no trophies and finishing 4th in the EPL while Chelsea knocked them out at the semis in the CL. 2009 he done well domestically getting Liverpool to 2nd in the table although they did bottle it as they looked to be in the driving seat for a while but couldn’t sustain the form (86 points was impressive though).

His last season was terrible though and his time was up at Liverpool but for me Kenny has not been any better since he has came back and he has spent a shit load of money which was never available to Benitez…not in a single season anyway.

I'm still struggling to get my head around the fact Andy Carrol is the most expensive British player ever.

Yes, but that was £1 million for Carroll and £34 million as compensation for Dalglish's awful management of the Toon.
