rangersross 6,530
DORIN GOIAN did a U-turn last night and walked away from Rangers and the Third Division. The Romanian defender is the first Ibrox player to quit following yesterday’s decision. On Thursday Goian insisted he wanted to stay and revealed he gave verbal assurances to owner Charles Green and boss Ally McCoist. But Goian, who is due back to Scotland today after his summer break, changed his mind after learning Rangers were dropping to the bottom tier of the SFL.He said: “I am not playing at the fourth level – there’s no question of that.“I am on my way back and I will meet the president of the club and I will learn more.“My agent has already spoken with other teams but nothing has been agreed yet.“I’d have stayed if it was the First Division – but not this.”

bears fan 259
so he was talking nonsense when he was quoted as saying he would stay no matter what division we ended up in. he was obviously hoping for the first.
Mikhailichenko 90
His agent has already spoken to other clubs? Unless the club has given him permission to do that this is another case of tapping up.
johngigha 0
Not sure how we could afford his wages so not a big deal and atleast we will get a fee for him unlike some others.
OneDavidCooper 2,505
To be expected.I'd imagine the following will also now quit:_WallaceBroadbentBocanegraEduAlexanderBedoyaLittleHealyI think of the senior players, only Kerkar and Jig will stay. WVB 2,560
I expect most of the players to leave, always have.We will attract players that will be good enough for the job that needs doing. No need to pay International players for 4th tier football.

The Dude 20,026
I think its too late.for him to simply quit. No fee no sale
rfc1990 1,140
Why not offer say Wallace, Edu, Bedoya new contracts, then loan them out for a couple years and bring them back?
MosesMcNeil 1,664
Goian isn't gone, but Goian is going to be gone.

ScottBF2 3,540
He's done the right thing. If anyone thought he was actually going to stay in the 3rd Division they were kidding themselves.I've more respect for him than I do for the deserters though, Goian waited to see the level of football we'd be playing before leaving, the others left just because they could. ZeonBlue 378
Not really bothered who goes, only interested in who stays to be honest or who we sign, we just need to move on now.

No need to pay International players for 4th tier football.Exactly.If Goian takes home about 15k a week (pure guess) then paying him that in the 4th tier is pointless and a bit stupid when we could probably build an entire squad capable of getting out of the division who would take home a combined 15k a week. london 3
Is there a list somewhere of the players we have left ? Is it literally going to be Jig ? Now we (sort of) know what division we'll be in I guess it's time for Ally to start rebuilding with whatever Green gives him, which I guess will depend on how many earners are left on the wage bill. Gandalf the Blue 1,384
He must have a relegation release clause of some sort in his contract. I dont mind this so much, he hung around a lot longer than the "rangers fans" we had playing at the club. Dont grudge him or Boca etc wanting to move on now as things stand.
