theiconicman 3,000
Rangers have signed former Hibernian and Kilmarnock midfielder Dean Shiels. The 27-year-old Northern Ireland international moves to Ibrox as a free agent following an excellent season at Rugby Park. He won the League Cup with the Ayrshire side and was nominated for Scotland's player of the year. Rangers, who are preparing for life in Division Three, will announce details of the contract at a 13:30 BST media conference. Shiels had rejected the offer of new terms at Killie, while he had been linked with a return to Hibs, where he played for nearly five years before switching to Doncaster in January 2009. Meanwhile, club owners Sevco Scotland Limited is changing its name to The Rangers Football Club Limited. An extraordinary general meeting of 'oldco' shareholders took place at Ibrox, where procedures were approved to enable the name change. Charles Green's Sevco consortium completed the purchase of the business and assets of Rangers in June after the club was consigned to liquidation following failure to secure a Company Voluntary Arrangement in order to exit administration. Rangers were granted conditional Scottish Football Association membership on Friday night, which will be completed when the formal transfer of 'oldco' Rangers' Scottish Premier League share to Dundee takes place later this week. "The process that took place today is the penultimate piece of the jigsaw that will see The Rangers Football Club move forward, with the transfer of SFA membership being the final piece," Green told the club website. Also related to this storyClub consigned to liquidation. God help me, tell me that wasn't from the Rangers site?
stefmartin16 121
ALLY McCOIST has bolstered his squad for a third time with the capture of Dean Shiels on a four-year contract. The former Hibs, Doncaster and Kilmarnock frontman completed a deal at Murray Park today and he follows Ian Black and Andy Little who were signed by McCoist last week. The 27-year-old's registration will be completed on Friday when Rangers are due to fully complete their SFA membership. And he could go straight into the side for the first Ibrox game of the season next Tuesday when Rangers take on East Fife in the League Cup.Shiels, of course, won the competition with Killie last season when they defeated Celtic 1-0 in the final. The 27-year-old had been on loan from Doncaster Rovers at Rugby Park, where his father Kenny is the manager, and then signed a six-month deal which expired in the summer. The Northern Ireland international scored the winner against Rangers for Killie on February 18 last season - just four days after the Light Blues went into administration.Shiels began his career with Hibs in 2004 and spent over four years at Easter Road before moving to Doncaster. He scored 15 goals in 43 appearances for Killie last season and was short-listed for the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award last season. Ricky_ 893
this is getting ridiculous that's us snapped up 2 stand-out SPL performers in Black & Shiels, because they'd rather play for 3rd division Rangers than another SPL club football in scotland is going to be unbelievably warped this year. The best team in the country is competing at the bottom level gets more and more bizarre. When we get by christmas we could be in the even more bizarre scenario that Rangers are making a mockery of the league with regular 7-0+ scorelines & some SPL teams are in doubt of completing their fixtures.
