Not enough training...?

running about and practise matches from 9 till 2 isn't enough? I think so. Its not like sitting in an office all day.

You have never agreed with anything I've said, so there's no point in arguing with you.

The players don't train enough. If they did, they wouldn't be drawing and losing away to plumbers and lollipop men. It's embarrassing.

The fitness side ain't the problem with our team, it's the technical and mental side to our game. Could we do more to improve, of course we could, but is that the players fault. No, it's the coaching staff fault for letting them get away with it and not implementing these changes.

Ally McCoist has commented on being no more Mr nice guy, hope that applies not just to his players. But also to his backroom staff that continue to let certain standards slip. Cause at the end of the day, it will be Ally himself that will come under pressure if we don't improve.

It's the players', manager's and coaching team's fault.

The players should want to stay on and do extra training to up their game, like the best players in the world do.

The manager and coaching staff should be demanding that they stay behind till performances improve.

Would have thought that was up to you, given its your thread and you are the one asserting none stay behind and they are all on twitter.

With the current performance levels, the whole team should be staying behind. The fact that some of them have been tweeting since 2pm, suggests otherwise.

Take a trip to Auchenhowie just now then, see for yourself.

As someone else has posted training starts at 9am and they train for 3 hours. But i agree it should be more.

Just add an hour on thats not much to ask is it? Most of these players their playing against week in week out have a full time job then when they finish that thy're off to training in a shitey wee park no doubt. They haven't got places like Auchenhowie to go to.

Why don't we just add 1 hour on. Thats not to much to ask is it?

It doesnt need to be hard physical training. Set piece practice would be good. We are terrible at defending free-kicks and corners at the moment.

Even taking time to watch videos together of your next opponents. Talk tactics. These things help massively.

Our set-pieces have been woeful for as long as I can remember, defending corners, lack of movement at throw-ins to list a few.

Extra practice in these areas should be a must.

Yes. We are terrible at defending crosses into the box at the moment, be it from corners or free-kicks.

Aye and that just can't be down to the players we sign, it must have something to do with our training.

I am sure that all players are monitored during their games, and distance run, speed, tackles, possession etc is accounted for. Then their individual programs are managed.

It is not like the past where you picked your fittest/best 11 - it is almost a science nowadays. And although we have some sharp guys on RM, our coaching staff are professionals. And we'll be watching our players and expecting huge improvements, from what we started with.

BTW - they are there for min' 5 hours, incl lunch, where sports dieticians are involved.

So why are we not seeing these huge improvements after all this training and specialised scientific stuff? An hour for lunch, maybe a half hour, that would mean around 4 hours per day, 4 or 5 days a week, it is basically part time hours. All the best teams on the continent train all day every day, it doesn't seem to do their players any harm. Our players have it far too easy.

... and you know this how ?

To be fair to pipedown, i have seen interviews with guys like Beckham, Del Piero, Totti, Eto'o, Nakamura who all admit to staying behind after training to work on their technique and weakness's. Even women know it is important! http://www.fifa.com/u17womensworldcup/news/newsid=1714603/index.html

“I work on my free-kicks a lot,” she said, a little bashfully. “I stay behind after training every day and get some practice in.”

Practice makes perfect, as her performance against Las Aztecas last Sunday showed. Lining up a free-kick on the edge of the Mexican box with 11 minutes remaining, Momiki curled the ball round the wall and just inside the far post to put her side 8-0 up. Moments later she helped complete the rout, floating another pinpoint dead-ball delivery from a little further out right on to the head of Mizuki Nakamura. Bang, small example but 2 free kicks in one game from a kid who makes a point of putting the hours in and practicing.

I have been to watch the team train numerous times. They are all out the door as soon as lunch is finished. Have you been to see them train?

And the fact that half of them are on twitter from 2pm onwards proves that they aren't still training.

My point exactly. We train far less than the big teams. And the players do far less individual work.

Something that we lack in Scotland. Hardly anyone has that will to work hard and better their own game.

Players are like any normal person in this country today, if you can get away with the bare minimum and get big wages for it. You'll continue to slack off. So personally I don't blame the players. I would look towards our coaching staff and Management team, cause it's their job to motivate players and try to encourage them to up the level.

We have to remember though, to players that have played at a higher level than Scottish 3rd division football. They'll go into games believing they can just turn up and win. That's a difficult thing to change mentally and try to motivate them. One major problem that our manager overlooked when he was bringing players in.

The only players in our team that will want to impress is players like, McLeod, McKay, Aird etc. Players that know no difference, and want to progress and cement their place. All the older players with higher level experience, already know they have a starting spot in our team. Regardless of performance on and off the park.

Their was a big thread on here about training etc. Most people said it wouldn't matter. Their was also a big thing made about what Ian durrant & McDowell do?

And if anyone has saw the pictures of our training today i would say nothing really.

Do they just set up the training and piss about on a mobile buggy the rest of the day?

How can you not blame the players for not having the mentality to better themselves? Surely that IS their fault??

Yeah the young players are the ones that have been impressing so far and good on them. It's refreshing to see some young boys in the team outshining the old guard.

Kids sign their first full time contract and think that is it, they have made it. Scottish players attitudes are very poor.

Exactly what happened with Fleck. He was out boozing all the time, absolute waste of a talent. They should with-hold a percentage of player's wages until they leave the club, wether they be sold or their contract runs out.
