Tontospal 1,116
What a load of nonsense. The 4 CL semi-finalists are all managed by foreigners.Bayern have won the title managed by a foreigner. It looks like the title in Spain will go to Madrid where both sides are managed by a foreigner. The EPL has never been won by an Englishman. The nationality of a manager is irrelevant it is the quality that's the important factor. King Jela 20,364
I'll let you research this and come back and tell me.Name the last British manager other than Ferguson to win the Premier League, the CL/EC, or any European trophy? Good luck because the EC one wasn't even in my lifetime...Your theory is really flawed.
gordon123 18
You could technically put Ron Saunders in there he left Villa just before they won the EC but it was his team. the manager tony barton was also an englishman
gordon123 18
darren ferguson would be a decent choice
Marky. 6,927
Our next manager can't come from Britain. With the exception of Ferguson, British managers of the last 20 years are underachievers.Brendan Rodgers?

otleyGer 2
I like steve Clarke,,,seems a good guy, good manager and was a good player but his type just doesnt belong at Rangers in managerial capacity...for goodness sake can we at least keep some things sacred? no more tims please, one slow Hartlepool reject stiker and one tubby injury prone midfielder will do thanks
WilliamFyfe 1,438
He was unlucky to lose his job at West Brom I thoughtI'd take him, but Id also welcome applications
DaveKingLoyal 124
its all relativeTony Pulis Roy Hodgson (at Fulham) Moyes (at everton) Allardyce havent won silverware but I would contend that they are decent british managers. It just so happens they tend to be with clubs who have little or no chance of winning major silverware

King Jela 20,364
Stats prove otherwise.Provide the stats for British managers success in Scotland..
GOAT 30,449
Provide the stats for British managers success in Scotland..Who gives a fuck about Scotland? It's Europe you should be interested in!
Ger_onimo 20,488
Who gives a fuck about Scotland? It's Europe you should be interested in!In which case why did you provide the EPL stats? And why didn't you provide stats for French, German, Spanish, Italian etc. instead of just "foreign"?
King Jela 20,364
Who gives a fuck about Scotland? It's Europe you should be interested in!Rangers give a fuck about Scotland, since we play in Scotland. We're never winning the Champions League or ever coming close, so your amazing 'stats' with British managers in that competition are irrelevant. plymouthranger 3,873
I agree an overhaul of staff is needed, with greater emphasis on continental elements of the game, for example possession, short passing, fluidity. But, to say british managers can't provide this is bollocks. Rogers is a good example of this. We are less likely to find a British manager granted, but it's certainly possible. The changes need to be made above the manager though, we should be looking at what Swansea did 12 years ago as the blueprint. It's just a shame we fucked it 2 years ago when we had the best opportunity
