Rangers star Lewis MacLeod undergoing medical at Brentford

RANGERS ace Lewis MacLeod is set to complete a £1m move to English Championship side Brentford.

The 20-year-old forward is in London undergoing a medical this morning and the deal could be confirmed as early as this evening with the player completing the move as soon as the transfer window opens on January 1.

MacLeod has been a stand out for Rangers in an otherwise grim season and Brentford assistant David Weir has watched the player on several occasions.

He has struck eight goals in 21 games and received a call-up for Scotland duty ahead of last month's double header against Ireland and England.

Former Gers defender Weir took a glowing report back to Brentford boss Mark Warburton and the Griffin Park club are now close to winning the race for the players signature, with a £1m fee agreed in principle.

We revealed earlier this month that clubs were preparing to swoop for the Scotland under 21 star with Rangers desperate for cash.

Newcastle, Aston Villa and Everton were all linked with a move for MacLeod but it now looks as if Brentford, currently sitting sixth in the Championship, will land a bargain £1m buy.

Everything hat isn't nailed down is about to be sold in my opinion. Selling before the administrator let's guys go for even less? We've been prepped for this eventuality by the paid bloggers who have been hinting that Ashley is too late. I think admin must suit someone with influence. Someone who is the main creditor and can have an element of control over the process. That's my theory anyway make of it what you will.

Like it or lump it. We are in dire straits . He is our ONLY asset. He has to be sold unfortunately. Wallace may go for half that.but that's it. We are fuck ed. So we need money to pay the wages.

If we're that fucked that we sell our only asset from the playing staff, why are the knocking back Park and Lathems £6.5 million funding offer ? The whole thing stinks.

We have to generate money and cut costs as we don't have enough money coming in, be it from ticket sales, sponsorship or retail.

The major drain on our wages are players and management, and we will have to do out best to get rid of what we can.

It's fucking heartbreaking considering guys like Black, Law, Daly, Shiels, Jig, Miller, Templeton and Boyd are taking about £100k out the club a week. Not one of them has kicked a ball for us all season- fucking heartbreaking!

Surely it would have best to wait till new manager in place and the Jan bidding started.

Even possibly keeping for couple more years and selling on once capped and won prem league !

He'd potentially be a 5mil + player

FFS, every week is worse than last. Sick of this

Something big is going to happen. There's no coincidence the board want him sold ASAP to raise cash. As much as I hate the board at least they are selling rather than taking on more debt. If it's not Admin 2 it will be a big investment from someone. And IMO it's going to happen soon

It's probably the case that we need the money in ASAP! We can't take the chance of selling to the highest bidder as the money will be used to pay for January wages.
