RM Monitor And Standards Officer 112,837
Barca are to offer neymar a reported 500k a week to fend off interest from man united. So much for financial fair play and the like. Neymar alone would be on 24 million quid a year. Then they'll probably have to raise messi to exactly the same level which will be 48 million quid a year for two players. They're really gonae have to introduce salary caps so that it's more of a level playing field. As the real world are lucky to have a 1% rise footballers wages just get bigger and bigger. It's the wee dude on the street that pays for these cunts wages. If fans didn't turn up the clubs couldn't afford it.I doubt it will be long before footballers are on 1 million quid a week, fuck Rangers players used to travel to the training on the underground or bus with folk heading to work.Gone are the days that these guys werent stuck behind fences training so that fans can't get anywhere near them.Scary direction football is going down

johanhentze 14,712
It's been fucked for a while in my opinion. Will the bubble burst? I'm not so sure.. People have been saying that for a long time. The interest is huge and that's what pays for it.

The US also made a record bid over there to broadcast it too so it's not even close to going bust. Actually it's stronger and more valuable than it's ever been in the history of the sport. The Godfather 75,671
There problem will be when Joe public is priced out of the game.Which when you look around Europe at attendance's they already are. Germany has the best attendance's everywhere else seem to be dropping numbersAgain attendances have been dropping for a number of years, many clubs have not increased their ST prices based on this but it doesn't seem to be effecting the actual value of the leagues. The biggest one is probably Italy but that's more to do with the corruption as many fans were put off by it as you can imagine.Leagues like Spain, England, Germany are still very strong both in popularity and revenue being the dominant leagues in Europe. Spurs and Chelsea have thousands of fans on their waiting list for ST which both have now planned to build new stadiums to gain more revenue. Leagues like ours, Scandinavian ones etc will suffer but not the big leagues, there's no money to be made in these leagues anymore but the top leagues are churning out so much it hardly matters. The trend shows football is not getting weaker but is getting stronger in terms of £ and that's what matters now. The Godfather 75,671
Tbh mate Spain's attendance's are poorOutside the bigger clubs it's been like that for a while, it's never seemed to have any impact on the popularity or value of La Liga which itself in the summer received a record TV deal here in UK with Sky and BT offering crazy money for it. With Barca and Madrid that league is unlikely to suffer, also Valencia are back in the game now with a cash daft owner while Atletico are up there too. Going by the trend, it's just not going to free fall anytime soon, in a few years we will see an even bigger TV deal in place. In the top leagues many clubs make more from the Sponsorships and TV money than they do ST money which to us keeps the club going but to them it's not their main income. This is the last year Barclays have the EPL rights and it's reported it's going for more than 3 times what they paid years ago for it. I understand what folk are saying because the wages are increasing but they are increasing because there is so much money floating about now due to incredible sponsorships and tv deals. Oleg everything we are seeing goes against that though.Show me this projected 'bust' scenario in football because all I see is it increasing when I actually look at the figures and trend over the past 15 years.I'm not looking for opinion, show me something that tells me this is going to happen. harlands plater 17,158
500k a week is just sick. I remember the stir it caused when Peter Shilton became the first footballer to be paid £1000 a week, it doesn't seem that long ago.

cp9 753
The bubble will never burst. Players aren't just players, they are business assets used to attract sofa fans from all over the world. Folk buying £100 tops with a guys name on the back whom they will never see playing in the flesh. Quite sad really.
magic8ball 27,904
There is a bursting point,as there is a finite number of people in the world willing to pay for football, when the market becomes saturated there will be a crash,When that happens there could be trouble, most super clubs are up to there holes in it,and when the collapse does happen the smelly stuff will hit the fan
