Tennnant sixes

Great wee tourney. Good for kids as well. I went to a few of them when I was young and loved it. Good to watch on the TV.

It still felt quite important to win it even though it didn't really mean much and it was thoroughly entertaining.

An added opportunity to mhank skelp as well.

This.

We tended to do well in it as I recall.

prob insurance reasons / chance of injuries etc

Yeah. Always heard it was injury issues. The players were too valuable to risk in a 6s tourney.

Imagine if it had continued and Laudrup had been injured during what was, for all it's positives, a glorified kickabout whilst we were involved in a CL campaign.

Just looking at Wiki. We only won it twice. I could have sworn we'd won it more.

1984: Rangers (defeated Dundee 6–4 in final)

1985: Heart of Midlothian (defeated Morton 4–1 in final)

1986: Aberdeen (defeated St Mirren 3–0 in final)

1987: Aberdeen (defeated Heart of Midlothian 4–3 in final)

1988: Dundee (defeated Motherwell 3–2 in final)

1989: Rangers (defeated Motherwell 2–1 in final)

1990: Hibernian (defeated St Mirren 3–0 in final)

1991: Heart of Midlothian (defeated Motherwell 5–3 in final)

1992: Celtic (defeated St Johnstone 4–2 in the final)

1993: Partick Thistle (defeated Airdrieonians 4–3 in the final)

Didn't Motherwell win it twice, was it Motherwell? So they're the most successful team in Tennant's sixes history

Never won it. Only 3 finals... apparently.

I do have this memory of them always doing well. I'd imagine I was taking an interest in Davie Cooper so remember them more.

Even the wee coloured boxes with the team's names when they show the scores reminds me of being young.

Love the crowd going mental against Celtic  we could play they cunts at Kerby and everybody would be right up for it
