Goldson

We’re well served in this position now with the Helander partnership clearly first choice but having Balogun, Edmondson and Katic as back up is great work by Rangers. Bassey could even cover in an emergency mid-match. Such competition keeps them all sharp.

Our strongest partnership. If only he can remove his passing lapses. But he's definitely one of those players who's mistakes alot of folk have decided they'll notice more than other players' mistakes.

A couple of rocks tonight.

He is prone to the odd wayward pass which sometimes gets unfairly criticised however some of his cross field passing and diagonal balls this season have been sublime. Hopefully he keeps progressing and is mindful to keep things simple where they need to be. Spot on re the partnership👍...

I think he’s not a natural ball playing CB but he’s adapted to the way Gerrard wants him to play. The second goal started with him feeding Tav virtually from our own six yard box. At Brighton, the keeper would have wellied that up the park, especially with opposing players pressing. Some of the football we play from the back is occasionally scary but great to watch.

Brilliant tonight. Yes he has shaky moments but overall he is a brilliant defender.

Dived in a few times and was caught out needs to stop and think why he's caught out so easily that way he was the same against young Nisbet, overall a good game though.

Got to hand credit to the coaching staff for his continuing development, not only him may I add...

A CB who we wouldn't have if he didn't have all the flaws people are pointing out.

Guys, its not 96 anymore, we're not competing with Man United  to sign European championship winners anymore.

We wouldnt have, id argue helander doesn't have goldsons flaws and we have him

Wayward passes can be accepted, its stuff like the hibs second goal that needs cut out, tight 2-1 lead away from home you dont fuck about 30 yards from your goal, drop it into their corner flag and let us regroup

Its almost like he has a brain fart from time to time, its usually at the worst moments lol

One of the H&H boys nailed it for me the other day in saying the combined fees paid for Goldson and Helander don't even add up to what they paid for Julian, yet we have the better defence/CB pairing.  Helander is turning into a rolls royce for us.  Superb recruitment.

Goldson is outstanding for us, and has been pretty much since he arrived.

A lot of things he gets pelters for are clearly tactical instruction, holding on to the ball, course, draw players on to him, back his skill to then beat the forward or break a press with a pass.

These are things our players need to do.  If he was error free he is worth 40 million and not playing for us.
