The incident was not seen by referee Lee Mason, leaving the FA free to instigate an investigation. Barton only returned to action recently after spending a week remanded in prison on assault and affray charges, followed by a spell on bail at the Sporting Chance clinic in Hampshire. I bet they made the poor guy refuse to press charges just so Barton would be available for selection. Surprise surprise that celtic made a transfer target of him.
