Have a diamond midfield with Fergie sitting, dictating the play from there, possibly swap Mendes and Davis to be the link between the strikers and Thomson harrying and being the ball winner in midfield. Have Broadfoot and Papac bombing down the wings and then if one loses the ball then Ferguson can slot into that position as he wouldnt be that far forward. Or you could swap Thomson and Ferguson which allows Fergie to dictate but just a bit further forward.

(tu) my team and formation.

Thommo in Fergies place though and Fergie where Mendes is

Or Mendes where Thomson is and Aaron in Mendes' place, Ferguson is not an attacking midfielder.

If we want to fit them all in then I think this would work.

____________Ferguson____________

_______Mendes____Thomson_______

Davis______________________Aaron

I'd be happy with this 11, but if Stevie Smith was fully fit and on form I'd be tempted to swap him for Papac as 2 real wing-backs are needed with a midfield diamond. Also, I'm assuming Edu will be on the same level as Davis and hopefully Mendes, but if he turns out to be no good I'd swap him with Charlie Adam.

You'd rather have Edu, or even Adam in there before Thomson?

Yep. Thomson would only fit a diamond in the deep position IMO, and Ferguson is twice the player Thomson is in that position. (tu)

Do you not think that as Ferguson's best years are undoubtedly behind him, and Thomson's are ahead of him, that it'd be better to give Thomson that position?

Edu would be where Ferguson is, because he is the defensive midfielder, ferguson would not be the holding midfielder, he'd be in the center with mendes, thats why its hard to fit edu in with the 4-4-1

I think that the most interesting part of this poll has to be what people think of Ferguson.

I think the most interesting part of this poll is what we think of Miller - despite all the rhetoric based on this poll at this moment (116) he is first choice striker!

Picked 4-4-2 and the players with the most votes exactly.

Seems like the majority of us are like minded when it comes to the Rangers, pity Walter isn't as single minded when it comes to selecting personnel and tactics.

Would definitely change certain aspects given the choice though eg. Weir for another decent CB.

I picked mine based assuming no injuries and good form for all players.

--------------------Mcgregor----------------

Broadfoot---Weir-----Bougherra---Papac

-------------------Thomson-----------------

--Davis------------Mendes-------Beasley*

------------Naismith-------Lafferty---------

*Possibly Aaron there, haven't seen enough of him to judge though.

so you think thomson is a better player than ferguson on top form???

At the moment, yes. I think Thomson's a far more valuable player for the team. He's not afraid to throw in a hard tackle and break up play, and we need that kind of player. Plus Thomson is still relatively young, whereas the best years of Ferguson's career are long gone.

if you picked a team on current ability everyone's starting 11 would be the same (only argument would be the strikers cause there isnt a great deal between any of them, none set the heather on fire), its only when potential comes into contention everyone would have different views/teams.

saying you'd play that Aaron, I wouldnt start someone I dont know anything about and hasnt even came on as a sub because he obviously cant be good enough, so to say you'd start him over guys like Beasley/Naismith/Novo/Ferguson etc etc is shite talk, its all based on potential, same as Edu (who i rate as a player, just needs time to settle)

Aaron was a con of a signing, i've made a post about him before about that subject, was just hype at a time we needed new faces and positive media attention to get us off their back. He played for Valencia, he must be a good player ! lol Age is no excuse either, if he's good then he's ready, he obviously isnt.

3-5-2 RB might be kirk but needs more time to prove me wrong!!

think this team could be unstoppable!!!

I doubt Fleck or Aaron could be wing-backs.
