Does anyone believe this?

JAVIER HERNANDEZ could be forced to abandon his pre-match Catholic prayer when Manchester United face Rangers in Glasgow on Wednesday week.

Deeply religious Hernandez – nicknamed Chico – kneels on the centre spot and prays before kick-off in every game he starts. But it is believed United boss Alex Ferguson – a former Rangers player – will advise the 22-year-old to ditch his ritual at Ibrox.

Rangers fans have already vowed on websites to target Hernandez if he goes through his normal routine and that will worry Ferguson who is anxious for United’s visit to pass peacefully.

Rangers officials say there is no question of them banning Hernandez from his usual pre-match routine, which he started in his native Mexico.

But he runs the risk of antagonising anti-Catholic Rangers supporters if he is included in boss Ferguson’s line-up when the teams meet at Ibrox.

Hernandez played against Rangers at Old Trafford but Ferguson realises the atmosphere is far more volatile in Glasgow, notorious for religious sectarianism.

Looks like another Rangers v Man U non story! First they had the reports of 7000 Man U casuals causing trouble in Glasgow and now this...

Personally I don't give a toss if he does it or not, just as long as he doesn't score against us.

Lot of shite. the goal keeper that hibs had used to pray at his goal popt's at ibrox everytime he came, but there was nothing in the papers about that.

is it because Makalamby wasn't a Catholic.??? is it only Catholics who get special treatment.??

And another thing, most European players come to ibrox bless them selves etc. so why does the record decide to pull this story out.??

Are they trying to say something.??

I really couldn't give a fuck, if he does do it the world will watching to see what we do, i hope we just ignore it and get on with supporting the famous

Forget about him doing it or not. he can do if he wants he's been doing it for years. It's the fact that this paper brings this up and makes out Rangers are a big bad club.

Raligt sums up my stance on this perfectly (tu)

And they can eff off with this same old 'anti-Catholic' shit. If I remember right, Arveladze would cross himself before coming on to the pitch. We've had loads of Catholic players. We've had/we have coaches, managers, players, supporters that are all Catholic. So they can shove the 'anti-Catholic' accusations firmly up their full-of-bullshit arses.

I used to get mad at papers for printing this shit, but now I figure that any readers who have two brain cells to rub together will be able to see through it like glass. The rest who can't be arsed thinking about things aren't really deserving of a valid opinion on the subject in my view either.

It's stupid though. Just a non-story filling up space in a shit PAPEr.

Someone has just thought 'hmm how can we make Rangers look like bastards today, wait a minute......I have an idea....It's a complete and utter piece of pish but lets print it anyway!' :craphead:

Probably harks back to the holy goalie, but he was just a wind up merchant if he went near a chapel it would probably fall down. That said anyone who is genuine in their belief does not have to make an exhibition of it or ram it down others throat they only have to keep it safe in the repository of their heart.

I don't mind if he does it.

But people are always saying "religion should be kept out of football"

It should include stuff like this, can't have it all ways.

But I'll repeat - I don't have a problem, personally.

Most sensible post here.

I really like wee Chicarito, fantastic finisher and I couldn't care less.

Just seems at times that people want it both ways, as you say.
