Are one horse leagues hard to win easliy?
polishranger replied to Shuggy's topic in General Football & Sport
Shakhtar already won Ukrainian League after 20 games. From those 20 they won 19 and lost one. Olympiakos also won their league pretty easily this year, the only team in Greece without financial troubles and you can see that - 26 games, 22 wins -
Agreed. Move to Real was justified, it was worth to try being part of Galacticos. But his later moves, Newcastle and Man Utd... not so much.

Finally. He was painful to watch last few years

If they wouldn't count then home team would have advantage of playing extra time at home field. You may say that away goals are more valuable then home field, but when you look at how tottenham destroyed inter at home, and inter did the same at home with tottenham... well, i think its fair like it is to be honest.

Took a brief look, seems interesting. I like how different teams have different priorities for their Academies. I think youth development is severely underrated in many clubs. Two best polish teams for example: Wisla Krakow and Legia Warsaw. Wisla for years invested in overpaid foreign players, Legia few years ago decided to put all their effort and money into making best football academy in Poland. Result? Sure, Wisla become a Champion two or three times on a way, while Legia not even once. But now Legia is getting few millions euro every half a year thanks to their Academy (this winter: Wolski to Fiorentina, 3mln euro), while Wisla is almost going bankrupt. Legia is heading for a Champion this year, while Wisla is struggling to avoid relegation. Legia got great young prospects every year and thanks to selling them they can also afford to sign 2-3 foreign stars, while Wisla is becoming more mediocre every year.

I would like to see him in BVB for years to come. He fits this team so well and Borussia is a great club. But Lewandowski is currently sitting on one of the worst contracts in team, guys like Perisic or Grosskreutz earn more. I imagine it may be bit frustrating for a star player to make less money then bench warmers. Sure, they offered him new contract, way better, but they didn't offered him what he would get in the open market. Won't be suprised if he'll leave in the off season. Most likely destination though is Premier League. Info leaked that he already attends english school in Dortmund every week to polish his language. If he moves to Britain, i hope not to Man Utd

He had potential. Looks done though -
Phenomenal player. Hope he stays in Atletico and they build a team around him for years.

I really like this. Games in Lizbona, Moscow, Glasgow, Paris, Warsaw, Belgrad... Sounds exciting. Also every game will be huge event for a host country. Imagine how huge it may be for a country like Serbia, Bosnia, Armenia, to have even one group game of Euro. Amazing, already happy for them, i know how great Euro has been for Poland. This should make football even more popular and be financial success as well. Very good idea IMHO, as well as 24 teams in tournaument. Can't wait

http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/2012/jul/22/gun-homicides-ownership-world-list 7% percent of homicides caused by firearm ranks 18th in the world out of 196 so yeah, not bad. USA has 60% of homicides caused by firearm. It's Zimbabwe-like numbers. 500.000 guns in almost 40.000.000 country, wouldn't say it's much. There are 450.000 in Slovakia, country of 5.000.000 people. If you feel safer with the idea of almost everyone holding a gun, okay. I wouldn't like to even imagine how dangerous my city would look like with less strict gun policy.
