Would you be behind Rangers playing in a special Gallant Pioneers anniversary home kit for a season?

Totally agree mate, when it comes to football jerseys less is definitely more.

I love our Barca 40th anniversary jersey and have one with number 9, Stein on the back.

When I discovered you could get them without the sponsor I was straight on our website but they were already sold out awaiting stock. I never did manage to get one.

I would much rather have a jersey without the sponsor, they just look way more classy.

What Paddy Power did last season with no sponsors on the kits was a really nice touch I thought

I’ve never read about either of those

Is there any clue to what colour might’ve been on the strip other than that shade of blue?

The Clyde ARC badge is a bit darker in the shade of blue that in your OP.

The other thing is that the socks in the team photo appear to be of our regular kit at the time, which was more of a (modern) royal blue.

As far as I know, there is no conclusive proof that that top was ever worn by us in a match either? The picture of the team was taken in a studio after the 1877 Finals were completed.

I’m not too keen on us wearing for an entire season in our 150 year anniversary a top that we may never have worn. Why wouldn’t we just wear our original kit? Blue shirts, white shorts, white and blue hooped socks?

That's it - the kit posted above is from 1877 and there is no proof of it being worn. Much belief is that it was then a throw-back to their rowing club kit days in honour of coming from kicking a ball about on a green to a cup final together.

The 1873 kit below: imagine the hooped socks

We’ve played in blue and white horizontal stripes (not calling them hoops) for probably a combined 15 years when you look at our away jerseys in the early 1900s and 1930s

I've always advocated having our clubs founding date 1872 incorporated into our crest, perhaps placed below the RFC scroll crest. For two reasons really. One it would look very smart and two it would prompt more bheast uefa complaints and gnashing of teeth.

Would be up for it.

Either a single large blue star with our classic RFC crest (in white) inside it with "1872" below it.

Or more like it is now but the crest + "1872" are black but we have our 5 stars coloured blue.

The 32red logo could be all white with black outline to make it stand out. The castore logo could be the same or all black.

Other than that, no fancy designs on the kit. Just all plain white shirt + shorts. Socks have white/blue stripes.

After 150 years how could we not honour these men?

Something like the one below.

Arsenal did similar in their famous maroon Highbury kit.

OR Would you be behind it but only for one game like Chelsea did with that Cup anniversary kit against Forest?

This is hypothetical more than anything really, although who knows what Castore might produce after their talks with Club 1872. My initial thoughts on this are torn but, the longer I think about it, the more I’m on board with it. I’m interested in seeing how many people are too. I don’t suspect many but who knows. Interesting thought regardless. I mean, it is our kit, so although it would be ‘breaking the tradition’ of our blue jersey, white shorts and black socks with red trim, the 1877 white kit with blue star from the Rowing Club set the foundations of our history in stone. It’s just as much part of our identity.

After all, it’s been nearly 150 years and we’re sat here discussing it.

If we changed the hooped socks to blue socks, I would be much happier.
