  1. He’s not really said anything there that older staff in every workplace feel.

We’ve got a generation of kids now who are growing up with everything at their fingertips on their phone. Even for people my age (early 30s), I can still distinctly remember times where mobiles didn’t exist and the internet had big limitations.

Kids nowadays drink less, want to travel more, prioritise festivals over nightclubs etc. They don’t want to work in offices, the good ones can work remotely from anywhere in the world, are more likely to freelance or have side businesses etc.

I manage a sales team and honestly find it difficult to connect with the under 25s that are occasionally hired in, so it’s no surprise footballers feel the same. The club should make the “leadership team” do courses to make them feel at ease, it would benefit all parties.

The manager has plenty credit in the bank but this next few weeks will be pretty big for him.

    Today

    Parkhead

    League

    Possible Cup final against them.

    Lundstram deal.

Massive, if we finish 2nd this year and fail to win the Scottish Cup, we’re a bad autumn away from being onto our 5th manager in 3 years. He has to start winning OF games.

I have more belief in Clement than the others (although Gios failure was down to Wilson’s piss poor recruitment), but this current “leadership team” have shown time and time again they can’t hack pressure.

He had to stop the rot and that means some honest discussions with the likes of Goldson, Lundstram, Tav. It also means clearing the decks of players who have shown they aren’t up to scratch, all the out of contract players should leave and the likes of Wright, Lammers, Dessers, Matondo, Lawrence, Dowell, Davies need moved on and replaced.

If he fails on the personnel decisions above, the players will fail him.

I can't see a world where we sign Sima permanently given how many other positions need fixing and he's into the last 12 months of his contract so we won't get another loan.

I'd imagine there are other teams out there that would be happy spending £7-10m on him. I'd imagine we wouldn't be able to go any higher than £5m. Maybe we can work something with add ons and a sell on fee.

Agreed but sometimes you have to sign the players under your nose.

Signing Sima for £5-6million (if possible), is a no brainer. You’ll never lose money on that unless we let him run down his deal like Kent/Morelos.

You could easily spend that money on someone else who fails and be in a worse position, we don’t know if Danilo will end up being a good signing for example.

  4. We’ve got to try and sell the likes of Davies, Matondo, Raskin, Wright, Dessers, Lammers and let all the out of contract players leave. If we can bring in the guts of £10million for them, it doesn’t weaken the squad a great deal.

Need to push the boat out to get Sima, get Danilo back fit and sign another quality striker and we’d be okay upfront.

Assume we’ll sign Cortez, McAusland is a useful bench option, but we’ll need another starting XI wide player and then some cover, although the likes of Wright and Matondo offer nothing there currently.

Cantwell, Diomande and Lawrence are fine, but we need a proper CDM to replace Lundstram who’s had his chance.

CBs a fucking mess, Goldson looks done, Souttar makes a lot of mistakes and then we have nothing else barring King. Need to push the boat out here and sign someone a level above, equivalent to what the tarriers did the CCV. Amazing what one good CB does for a back 4, can almost carry them single handedly at times.

GK is fine and Yilmaz and Tav are okay, but if any kid of Saudi money comes in for Tav I’d sell and sign another RB.

  5. The leadership team, as they’ve never led us to consistent success and won’t

Goldson should never have been given a new deal (we’ll be stuck with him for the next 2 years and he’ll get progressively worse).

Tavernier whilst an incredible threat for goals, just isn’t the same player and looks sick of it all.

Lundstram has a good 3-4 month spell then reverts to type. Has never bossed a meaningful league Old Firm game. Never shows up when the chips are down domestically, prefers standing between the CBs doing fuck all.

Get rid of them and replace with people who don’t have the battle scars of the past 3 seasons of domestic embarrassment. I’m not counting the cups, should be a given we win at least 1 every year.

  6. I think they’ll drop points in one of their games, but we’re in a bad place and I honestly don’t think we’ll be there to capitalise on it.

We’ve looked down at out before (Walters last title being a great example), so we need to make sure we stay in it. If they do slip up, I’d never forgive this crop of players if we didn’t at least capitalise on that.

If we lose the title because of Parkhead, fair enough. They’re 50/50 games and you can’t control them. But if the tarriers drop points to Kilmarnock and we don’t put pressure on because we’ve dropped points against the likes of Dundee, then that’ll be criminal.

  7. Hearts have had a really good youth academy for a few seasons now and hearing they think a lot of the crop of players between the ages of 15-17.

I don’t hear anything near that level of excitement about the equivalent ages from our side…
