Would anyone give up the league this season if a place in the final in Dublin was the gain?

    Yes.

But we’d have to just lock the gates and not come back if we won in Dublin. I think we’d get shut down, Ireland wouldn’t know what had hit it.

It would be the pinnacle, there’s never be another night that eclipses it.

  2. Needs to get a pre season under him. Unfortunately on current form, that’ll be elsewhere as doubt Clement will fancy him on current form.

We’ll probably get our money back/slightly more for him.

If we have splashed the cash on Shankland in Jan we would be running away with the league with the amount of chances he would bury.

We wouldn’t, we’d only have 3 points more (yesterday) and chances are Hearts would’ve lost to celtic today without him. So currently him staying put is fine

  4. Real Ronaldo, Redondo, Zidane and Ronaldinho.

All of them made complicated things look effortless. Zizou at the WC 06 was arguably the best individual highlight reel you’ll see. But R9 at Barcelona was scary, honestly never seen anything like it before or since. What could’ve been, he’d had smashed every record

  5. Our problems yesterday were due to the fact the entire side had a collective shocker.

We’ve also went from having Cantwell, Lawrence and Silva as our creative players, to shoehorning Sterling, Diomande and McAusland into those 3 positions. That’s why we didn’t take our chances.

Souttar needs to learn to head a fucking ball and Goldson had an absolute mare yesterday also.

Agree on the unity thing, but not convinced that either Davies or Wright has made a meaningful contribution

Not meaningful, but them and several others on the fringes e.g. Jack, Souttar, Barisic etc are given chances when appropriate and kept as part of things.

A lot of managers would’ve frozen those players out and be burning out our current best 11-14 players, but Clements playing a very clever hand. He’s won league titles before at multiple clubs and knows how it works.

  7. Tactically he makes things simple, but his man management is arguably his best asset from what I’ve read.

We could easily be in a situation where players like Cantwell could have downed tools because of being subbed early. Or had people like Wright, Davies etc not contributing because they were nearly out the door.

There’s a unity here that hasn’t been there for a very long time.

Cortes is a really great winger to watch, some of his technical ability is quality.

Our January signings are making a real difference.

Feels like roles reversed in the 21/22 season.

We were the early pace setters, then their January signings hit the ground running whilst ours flopped. They started finding ways to win every week and tanked a few sides, whilst we scraped by.

This time it’s our turn, league will be done by April

I honestly think that we will fuck them home and away.

Elite football is all about small margins and confidence is a big part of that. From everything I've seen and read there's not a lot of confidence at Benfica while we have it in spades due to the management of PC.

Not sure about away, but if there’s 1 goal in it going back to Ibrox, we’ll progress. It’s Thursday nights at Ibrox after all…

This really isn't good for the reputation of the Eredivisie.

It will be hilarious if we manage to make a profit on him.

It’s an absolutely shite standard of league barring the bigger 4-5 teams.

There’s a reason why premier league clubs have stopped buying attacking players from the Dutch league (barring United and Antony and look how that’s gone). Too many forwards have overinflated stats there because they’ve scored a shed load against Go Ahead Eagles…

  11. Seriously think the tarriers will drop points against Motherwell if we do the business.

    Scoreboard pressure.

Just get the 3 points. I’d be tempted to keep Cantwell and Lawrence in the middle and put Cortez and McAusland either side of Dessers.

If it’s a tight game, having Matondo, Silva to come off and run at them at full pelt, should make the difference.

  12. Clement made a point of saying how he doesn’t just want a goal scorer as a striker.

Shanklands all round play isn’t levels above Dessers that would justify having 2x strikers costing circa £4-5million each and 29 years old or over.

We’ve got Cyriel until at least summer and he’s doing fine currently. If he goes in summer, Shanklands a good replacement, but we don’t need both.

  13. Warming to the big man.

Movements very good, finishing is erratic but he’s scoring goals and we’re not reliant on him.

Works fucking hard off the ball, something our forwards haven’t done for years. A lot of the interceptions we make by the likes of Cantwell, Lawrence etc are because he’s worked hard to close off the easy passing lanes.

Easiest positions to play in football are full backs in a back four.

Please don’t @ me as I won’t entertain any other argument.

Agreed, but now it’s probably the most demanding position

Dessers did next to nothing though.   He's so bad he doesn't need marked.

Not the case, his movement is good (hence why he keeps getting chances even if he fluffs a fair few) and his hold up play against Aberdeen was good.

There’s a reason why he tires around 70 odd minutes and then when Silva comes in there’s loads of room to run into. Defenders have to follow him constantly and his pressing helps us as well.

Never going to be worth the money we paid for him, but if we’d signed him for £2million and had a first choice number 9, we’d all be fairly happy with him.
