Always liked Chris Burke. Struggled because of some mystery virus and kept getting injured, but he proved he was a very good player down in true EFL

I can't remember much about Stuart Munro... he was still in the team when Souness arrived eh?
Munro played for us during Souness for much longer than many remember. Graeme tried to replace him several times but kept going back to him

Cortez looked a bit slower than I thought he’d be. Seemed to have a real burst of acceleration on the highlight reels

It’s usually the length of term that’s as much of a factor as the wage, when you get to 30 odd.
Say he’s on £35k p/w as rumoured, we’re not offering him miles less than that. Maybe we’re trying to bring it down to 28-30k p/w, but we’re not going to insult our best player on form (barring super JB) by offering him half what he’s currently on.
But we’re probably only willing to offer than kind of money to someone with no resale, on a 2 year basis (if we’re really embracing the player trading model). He might get similar weekly wages down south on a longer term like 4 years…

Badly need some changes.
Get Wright off for McAusland, take Raskin off and put Cantwell in the middle or get Lawrence on.

Brutal that we’re playing the game in our half

Fucking hell. He’s basically cockney Alan Partridge?

Think Silva did very well.

Again worked his socks of but had little quality or impact in his play. Until he then scored a fucking belter.
Reminds me of Hagi, but people forget Hagi was basically worth a goal or assist every other game in the 55 season. The numbers matter, Cantwell needs to do more of that

People were pointing out that his movement is good and I was questioning if we were watching the same player.
But he gets a lot of chances, so clearly he’s good at finding space for himself. Doesn’t seem able to just put his foot through the ball, but these little dinked finishes are starting to add up

Best performance in a January game since the 55 season

Man is scoring 20 this year!
There’s an outside chance he could finish top scorer in the division…

Pretty outrageous finish, but probably goes down as an OG lol

Youan looks a good player

Not sure if he selling him just yet. There is a player in there and I’d love to see him get a run of 15-20 games
-
Yeah that’s a big big blow.
Barring Tav and Dessers (I know), we don’t really have a consistent goal threat now.
We’re going to need a poacher style striker who can convert some of the chances Dessers will miss, plus a wide player who can give us something similar to Sima in terms of threat, but also work-rate and physicality.
The likes of Cantwell, McAusland, Lawrence, Matondo, are all going to need to pitch in with 3-5 goals a piece also between now and summer.
Combined they currently only have 7 goals in total this season. That’s woeful for players playing in those roles at a club like ours (although McAusland deserves a pass because he’s young).

I know one of the guys from the Sunderland podcast Wise Man Say.
They absolutely fucking hate him. It’s already toxic and it’s only going one way.

Agreed. If we win the title, it’ll be a sure thing by early April because they will implode.
Im still not sure if I see us getting over the line in a week by week title race in the depths of May, there’s still scar tissue and our OF record is poor.
There’s a real possibility that if we win our next 7 league games, we’ll be out of sight and the last 7 won’t matter as much. They are ready to implode and it’s about what we do, keep the scoreboard pressure and they’ll crumble soon.
