Can't believe people use this to slag Ally off and talk about lack of vision, it's been clear to me over the last couple of seasons that Ally must have had instructions to get us to the top flight as quickly as possible, well like it or lump it that is what he is doing.
Yeah it would be brilliant if he could fill the team with emerging talent and take that risk but if they didn't deliver the goods the fanbase would be onto their back quicker than some of the typical posts on here.
As for Boyd signing, if this is true, then he would help that final promotion push and he would also help us hit the ground running in the top flight.

Boyd is a goal scorer. Miller is a goal scorer. Clark is a goal scorer. Daly is a goal scorer. Gallagher is emerging as a goal scorer. Stoney is an emerging goal scorer.
Winning promotion out of the Championship at first attempt was always going to be the most difficult of the lower leagues. More so now that Hibs and Hearts are in it. Experienced goal scorers with a track record of handling the pressure at Rangers was always likely to be on the buying agenda to add to the options that can be fielded when it is nil nil with 20 mins to go and a win is needed. A bench with strong credible striking options would - I think - be what any manager wants. So adding Boyd - if he signs - adds to the strking options. Yes Stoney is also an emerging goal scorer (and others in the youth squad too) but I guess that if the top priority by a very very large distance is to win promotion this coming season then the opportunity to add (if affordable) experience and track record of delivery would win out over passing over that opportunity.
We all want back into the top flight asap and back to the very top of it also asap. Striking the balance between relying on experience and introducing emerging top talent will not be an easy job to do. At the end of the day after each game I expect the point will be did we win and is it another 3 points in the bag. Playing better football than we've seen all to often and getting players to perform as individuals and as a team to the best of their talents on a consistent basis will doubtless be a key thing to achieve. But points will be more important and for points you need goal scorers.

This obsession with playing "youth" and "potential" would have kept us in the bottom tier. Every player that's left us, particularly those that only a handful have seen play, are apparently world beaters who would go on to have fantastic careers and we've let them goooooooo bwahhhhh.
Fact is, most of these players reach their level away from Rangers, look to the most recent messiahs that are testament to that, when you think of McCabe, Ness, Fleck, Wilson, Shinnie, Loy, Lennon et al. You can't just keep throwing in promising youngsters and expect them to succeed. You need the strength of character of a born winner and a strong desire to get the best out of yourself on top of ability to succeed at Rangers. Some come through okay, Ferguson, Hutton, McGregor, Adam (perhaps) but that's the nature of it with us. If you're not mentally strong enough you're likely to fail with us, but then you might still carve out a decent career where the pressure and expectation aren't the same.
With respect to Telfer, I've not seen him play so can't comment, but if he thinks he's more chance of breaking through than he has at Ibrox then that's his decision. Rangers should NEVER promise to play anyone and certainly shouldn't be held to ransom by a youngster who's yet to prove himself.

Wishing any player a massive injury is absolutely disgusting irrespective of why the left, whether it be for more money or the chance of 1st team football.
Regarding the couple of posts about why it may have been left late to discuss a new contract this could have been down to the review and waiting to see what the playing budget was going to be.

Sorry mate but that's rubbish, paying game by game doesn't help the club, ST sales are a massive level of income that any club receives and knowing how much that income is before the season starts lets the club plan their budgets as it's fixed money and not what might be.

Yeah all players have been doing well, as for the commentators I'm enjoying it due to my childish sense of humor, and as I said earlier it's refreshing compared to some of the people who have commentated on us and their clear hatred and bigotry against us.

As someone else mentioned we played against a team who hardly had a look at our goal and played a very defensive game, don't matter who you are that is always difficult to play against, people seem to forget that we've employed the same tactics ourselves in European matches, sure it wasn't pretty but the 3 points is still the most important thing at the end of the day.

Yeah I was actually surprised, thought he was one of our better players, either he deceived to impress because the rest of the team were playing so slow and poorly or he was actually playing quite well.

Im struggling with this to be honest.
He acknowledges that the current board are addressing the excessive spending mentality which exists at our club - then offers to add to the problem by suggesting a soft investment ?
Shouldnt we be striving to operate within our means ?

Lovely, he seems to be taking the scaremongering rst approach, back some fabled fan ownership ideal, raise the specter of Whyte and suggest ST boycotts. No thanks Mr King i think we now see you are just another mini Murray, all big talk and threats but not willing to give the board time and space to do what they have to.
