I've just found a fix - on the Taskbar tab in Taskbar and Navigation, uncheck the Show Windows Store Apps on the Taskbar. Smartypants, your suggestion would have taken me to the same place - thanks.

I installed Chrome and it messed up some default settings, like using Desktop instead of Start mode. I uninstalled it and managed to sort most things. Only thing I can't fix is that when I close any App, Windows changes to Desktop. I want to stay in Start mode rather than Desktop mode. Help!
